What is it about television talk shows naming their shows after their hosts? Do the producers or writers of this show have no imagination? Do the stars of these shows just have a huge ego problem? Do the producers, writers or whoever is in charge of naming these shows think that by naming these shows after the host, they will pull in more viewers?
Yes, if you haven't guessed it ABC is naming their newest talk show, which is supposedly to air beginning in the 2012 "Katie." The show will be hosted by Katie Couric.
Okay, so the show will also have a tagline to go along with its non-original name: "The Opportunity Begins September 6th."
The show is supposed be similar to Oprah's past show. It may also be geared to take the place of "General Hospital" if ABC is stupid enough to cancel its last soap opera.
What do television viewers and tweeters think of the name? According to an article on hollywoodreporter.com most think it is a bit lazy. See these examples:

Wow. I wonder how long they worked on this title?

Dare I ask how long it took her to come up with this?
Will this show be a hit with the fans?
The Soapers say no. They say they are not willing to watch anything new on ABC. They refuse to watch anything from this network since they cancelled "All My Children" and "One Life To Live." They will only watch "General Hospital" as long as it continues to air on ABC. If it is cancelled, then they are gone for good. Since the soapers equal a group of millions of daytime viewers, ABC is in for a rough time when it comes to those ratings war.
Sounds like they should have put more of effort into the naming this show, at least this is what this humble writer thinks. Of course, a name is just a name.

Post a CommentI don't know what the public sees in her, she's rather ill-informed and not very engaging. Not a big fan of hers. Good report!
I've never been a huge fan of Couric's. cheers
I'm looking forward to Jenny McCarthy's new show. Don't care for Katie!
super
I'm not a fan, so I probably won't watch it.
I think this lady is overrated my friend. Maybe its just me but she can't seem to keep a job long anymore.
Thanks... :o)
Like Cher and Madonna, Katie is just that famous to be known by just one name. It should prove to be a great show.
Wow, they are naming it just "Katie." Interesting indeed!
