Abdominoplasty A.K.A "The Tummy Tuck"

Casey C
Abdominoplasty, also know as a "tummy tuck" is a procedure done on men and women to achieve a flatter, tighter stomach. Most people look to having this procedure done to look slimmer and have a more appealing abdominal contour. A tummy tuck is designed to sculpt and tone the abdominal areas. When this procedure is done, your surgeon manually tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall and then places sutures to hold them in place. The excess skin is then removed from the patient's abdomen for a firmer, flatter midsection. Some liposuction may be done with this procedure depending on the patient.

Women or men who make a good candidate for this procedure are those who have been unable to tone his or her abdominal area. Some people, even with the help of diet and exercise, still can't seem to get rid of the excess fat or tone their abdominal area. Women who have had a C-Section often run into this problem if they were over weight during their pregnancy. Some women after a C-Section end up with a "pooch" and no matter what they do, they can't tighten this area up.

There are a few tummy tuck procedures, one being the traditional tummy tuck for people who have more of a midsection. The next procedure is the mini tummy tuck, people who choose this procedure only have a slight protruding abdomen. The endoscopic tummy tuck is ideal for those who have a little excess skin around the midsection. People who have a large amount of skin and fat choose the circumferential tummy tuck, this procedure is for those who are looking for dramatic changes.

What ever procedure you may choose, just always remember to take your time in finding the right surgeon. Do your on research and make the right choices, this is your body and making the right decisions will eliminate any mistakes that may occur. If you do not ask questions and get answers, chances are you may have chosen the wrong surgeon for this procedure.

When asking how much a tummy tuck will cost, you will be told that procedure will cost between three thousand and ten thousand dollars. There are other things you may need done during this procedure, which will not be included in with the price of the tummy tuck. When asking the cost for this procedure it is always best to ask how much will my abdominoplasty cost? Tummy tuck procedures can vary depending on the patient. These prices can go up by hundreds of dollars or even thousands, depending on the patients needs. The prices for the tummy tuck can also go up for other reasons. This is why it is important to do research and ask questions. Consult with the surgeon on exactly what it is that you will need to have done.

If you are someone who is interested in having the tummy tuck procedure done, it is very important in choosing a surgeon. Take your time looking for the right surgeon and once you have found one, do your own investigating. Make sure you check his or her credentials and do not be afraid to ask them about their education. You may also ask to see some before and after pictures of patients they have already done this procedure on. Another important question to ask him or her is how many of these procedures have they performed. If you are unsure about things, don't be afraid to ask questions and also pay attention to how this doctor responds to you. Make sure he or she answers all your questions and that they don't seem to get annoyed with all the questions you may be asking.
