Abercrombie and Fitch Continues to Push the Envelope--Refuses to Accept Parents' Concerned Emails
New Ashley Push Up Triangle Bikini Top Too Revealing for Seven Year Olds?
Their stated goal is to stop the exploitation of children, especially by the entertainment media (TV, music, movies, etc.).
According to OneMillionMoms, "Money is the name of the game for those who exploit, and they are exploiting our children for their financial gain. Just imagine the influence you can have by joining with one million other moms! That represents economic power! When one million moms speak as a unified voice, letting it be known that we will fight with our dollars, YOUR VOICE WILL BE HEARD!"
OneMillionMoms latest campaign is against Abercrombie and Fitch
According to OneMillionMoms website, Abercrombie and Fitch continues to push the envelope and with the new Ashley push up triangle bikini top, no pun intended, for girls as young as 7 and 8. They are ignoring parents' concerns and have outdone themselves by offering children's clothes to make them feel sexier than in years past.
A & F has changed the description of their Ashley triangle bikini on their abercrombie kids website from "push up" to "padded." This new itsy bitsy, string bikini is unacceptable for children because they should not be worried about their body image and outward appearance. A product line attempting to make girls self conscious about their curves which are nonexistent can be harmful by making them feel inadequate with their pre-adolescent bodies. Not to mention how dangerous this sexualization of young girls can be when attracting pedophiles and predators.
Abercrombie and Fitch's new padded swimsuit is for girls and tweens ages 7-12. Even though the company has blocked our emails in the past, we will not give up. We will call their corporate office and voice our concerns. We know from past experiences that calling may take a few more minutes of your time, but it will be time well spent. We must be heard at A & F.
OneMillionMoms Call to Action
Call Abercrombie and Fitch's corporate office at 1-614-283-6500 and press #3 & # 4 or you can press 0. If you get the recording asking you to email them, you may do this or just call back to get the menu to talk to someone. (The email address given came back as undeliverable for OMM since they block emails from our server so we cannot set up a prepared letter as we typically do.)
TALKING POINTS: "As a mother and a member of OneMillionMoms.com , I would like to voice my concern about the new padded bikini tops for little girls. Not only is this disturbing and disgusting to pump up their little chest for them to feel sexy, but you are doing untold damage to their self esteem . They do not have a chest or cleavage yet because they are just children. This will also put them in danger of attracting pedophiles and predators." Then let A & F know that if they do not remove this appalling bikini line from their stores and website immediately, then as a parent you will not be shopping in their stores (A & F, abercrombie kids, Gilly Hicks and Hollister's). They can block our emails, but they can't keep us quiet.

Post a CommentNice going, Megan! Thanks for stopping by my article on same subject and letting me know of yours. This issue of sexualizing our children needs all the media attention it can get. It's wrong!! They grow up fast enough. Plus, we wonder how pedophiles get enticed. It's really a no-brainer. Love Priscilla's comment.
Thanks, outstanding voice of Moms to protect our kids!
great post - I agree with this and feel there's no options. My girls prefer wearing boy swim trunks and rash guards.
