Abort Obama Not the Unborn Bumper Sticker Controversy

Should a Political Bumper Sticker that Got a Man a Visit from the Secret Service?

I America we enjoy the right of freedom of speech as guaranteed under the First Amendment to The United States of America. With this right there are responsibilities. It has long been established that you cannot yell fire in a crowded theatre. You also can't go around slandering people, at least you are not supposed to, but you can't state facts and your opinions.

Chip Harrison had a sign on the back of his vehicle that read "Abort Obama not the unborn". Police noticed the sign when he was driving through Oklahoma City. Typically cities are often more liberal than in suburban and rural areas, so I was not surprised, but it is important to know that Oklahoma City is majority white. I don't believe the man was pulled over based on race in any way. The police pulled Harrison over and told him it was because of his sign. They mentioned it was basically threatening the President and they debated the meaning of it. The police ended up confiscating it but returned it later. As I mentioned earlier The United States Secret Service checked his out to make sure there was no danger to Obama and that was basically all there was to it.

I actually found this information on the internet the other night while I was researching some information for another project that I am working on. There are a couple of topics that this can touch on. First threatening the President (even if he is a socialist, moron, or anything like that) is against the law. As noted above, even with free speech you can't threaten the President. You can criticize but something that can be construed as a threat will at a minimum be investigated by the U.S. Secret Service. One person had a poll on Face book (I believe) that basically was asking people what they thought the likelihood that Barack Obama would be assassinated. I actually thought that was a reasonable hypothesis since many in the media have mentioned that "hate group" membership has gone up significantly since Obama came to power. Further there have supposedly been more threats than normal against Obama than other presidents.

In addition to the free speech aspects and the protection of the president you also have the issue of abortion itself in this sign and the controversy with it. Some will say abortion is not killing a living thing. This would mean that it is not a threat. Others would say abortion does mean to kill something and it would be a threat. It actually is a good way to use Obama and many liberals abortion on demand agenda against him. According to Obama and many kiss tail liberals opinions abortion is "ending a pregnancy" or the "terminating" a pregnancy early. It also can mean to remove something. This being the case Mr. Harrison was right. He feels Obama should be aborted. Obama could be terminated from his job (as in being defeating him, in its next election, voters could end his reign also by not voting for him again. On the subject of terminating voting for Scott Brown by the god people of Massachusetts terminated much of the most liberal things that Obama and the liberals would try to sneak through. I don't think that Obama has does anything remotely giving reason to impeach him, but since people can say that if they choose then impeaching him would be removing him from office. The fact that he uses kid gloves that he treats illegal immigrants with and support of amnesty could constitute giving "aid and comfort to the enemy" which is impeachable.

As for as people assassinating Barack Obama there logic is very flawed. Doing so would probably cause a race war unless he was assassinated by a non-white. Now hate groups like the Ku Klux Klan, Skinheads, various black hate groups and company may want to do this. I don't think that is what Dr. King envisioned with his dream to happen. Also the white race is the least united race of any race in the country currently. This would be a real problem for white people. In addition to the possibility of a race war people also need to think of what happens when certain groups do not get their way. Typically there are certain groups that will riot when they don't get their way. The L.A. Riots are a good example of this. If people do not like President Obama that is their right. I personally do like him, but hate most of his policies and think he should never have been president. If people are concerned about Obama they need to get him at the ballot box and not even think of harming him. This is a serious issues and that is why the threat was taken seriously.
