Abortion: How One Person's Selfishness Affects the Future

My recent interest in genealogy has left me pondering some big issues. As I research further and further back, the names of each ancestor begin to run together and all look the same. We have no way of knowing each and every one of their stories. But, each name represents a life that was lived fully and brought something to this world. Each name is a person who meant the world to someone else. Each name is a big piece of who I am, today, hundreds of years later.

Consider every person it took to create you. How many direct ancestors could you count back until you reached Adam & Eve? Hundreds? Thousands? It took every one of those people to create who you are and what you have become, genetically. Suppose you have 900 direct ancestors, had just ONE of them not grown to maturity and gave birth to the next line of descendants, you, your children, grandchildren, or any descendants would exist. See how important just one person is in the big realm of things? It doesn't matter if 899 of those ancestors existed; just one missing from the link would mean you would not exist.

This rule doesn't apply to just you and me, it applies to everyone and everything. Think of all the people in history who have contributed something very important to society.

Dr. Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin. Penicillin has single-handedly saved countless lives and improved the quality of others. Leo Baekeland was the inventor of artificial plastic, a substance that touches each of us every single day to make our lives better. Jonas Salk discovered the polio vaccine. This has kept so many people from suffering from a lifetime of disability and pain; even death!

These people represent just a few examples to make a very big point. Had any single one of their ancestors died before reproducing, these fine people not being born would have affected our quality of life. We could have still been succumbing to infections, dying of polio, etc. And what if it was your father or mother who died of polio or of some kind of infection that could have been cured with penicillin? Again, it would have meant that you would not have come into existence.

Confusing? Not really. If Dr. Alexander Flemings' great-grandmother died an untimely death, then there might not have been penicillin until much later, if at all. Think of how many times you, your mother, or your father have been saved by penicillin? It truly is remarkable and something we take for granted on a daily basis. How many people are saved using the technology of plastic? Consider all the surgical advances that could not exist without this important substance.

Now try to fathom how many people are going to be missing in our children and grandchildren's future. Thanks to abortion, not only are the obvious unborn victims going to be deleted from history, but a whole line of people have just been obliterated for every one abortion that occurs each day. That murdered baby's children and descendants have been denied existence by one, single, selfish person and a very self-centered law.

Perhaps we may be paying for society's sins for allowing this to go on and not putting a stop to it. Roe vs. Wade happened in 1973. So the oldest victims of this law would have been around 33-years-old now. How many of those people might have been working on a cure for HIV or cancer? Could one of them found a cleaner fuel source? Could one of them been a leading agriculturalist and found a way to produce food in famine-struck areas of the world effectively? Think about all the suffering our country faces daily from AIDS, cancer, pollution, and hunger. The same liberal-minded people are the ones who cry the hardest about many of these problems, yet their own support of abortion, or apathetic attitudes towards making it illegal, could have possibly inhibited the birth of the person destined to fix some of these problems! It's incredible to think about, really.

Some of you might think it does not matter. Sure, you are here and that is all that matters, so who cares? Your descendants will exist, right? This may not be necessarily true. How many of these murdered, faceless victims of abortion, would have grown up and married one of your children? Remember, a whole line of people goes missing with just one abortion. This could have implications to your descendant line through infinity. Perhaps an aborted baby's great-grandchild would have married your great-grandchild. One abortion has a huge impact on the future dynamics of the population.

How many of your children or grandchildren will die of cancer, AIDS, and suffer from other maladies? Could an unborn scientist or physician who was denied existence due to abortion have helped them? Again, your line of descendants will get involved.

On a more personal level, I have always felt that everyone has a soul mate. This is not a fact, of course, but I do believe it is true. I am 34-years-old and, luckily, have a wonderful and loving husband and father to our children. How about you? Are you lonely? Have you been plagued with bad relationships and frustrations because you can't seem to find that special soul mate? If you are thirty-something or younger you may never find your soul mate. Why? What if your soul mate was aborted? Now we are getting very close to home. Perhaps the person you would have been happiest with, loved the most, spent your entire life with and had beautiful children with was never born because their mother did not want to be inconvenienced with them. How sad is that?

I don't think I need to map this out for anyone any further. Anyone with any sense can sit and think about what has been said here and see how the future of you, your children, and mankind has been permanently affected by this heinous and unthinkable act that is legal and readily available. If you are a liberal-minded left-wing-est and you can't see how this has come full circle and could be haunting us, then you are simply not thinking about it enough. A woman's right to choose? Choose what? Choose to indelibly and forever change the course of the world for future generations? That seems hardly fair or prudent.

If you are pro-choice or support a government that condones abortion then you must consider the following:

The next time you receive a diagnosis of something incurable, have to watch someone you love suffer with something, or you are just inconvenienced by some everyday irritant that lowers your quality of life, pat yourself on the back. You may have backed the "choice" that prevented a solution to your problems and an answer to your prayers. God does answer prayers, but only if you let Him. If you continue to support pro-choice politicians and laws that kill unborn babies, how can God answer prayers? Sometimes God has to start working on your prayer long before you even pray for it. And if the answer to your prayer is a cure for cancer, as you sit and watch your daughter dying from it 20 years from now, it could be that your answer was permanently extinguished in an abortion clinic in 1973. Don't blame God; He certainly may have tried to send mankind the answer. We, in our ignorance and evil ways, could have denied that possibility.
