Abortion is a Sin

The Presidential Candidates' Position on Abortion

Peter Aaron
There are many people who live here in the United States that feel that abortion is a sin because you are murdering an innocent life and that it should be illegal. On the other side of the coin, there are those that believe that it is a woman's right to choose rather she give birth or not. With such opposing views, it is apparent that abortion will be a huge issue in this year's presidential elections. So where do each of the main candidates stand?

Democratic Presidential Candidate Hilary Clinton:

Hilary Clinton is a strong advocate for a woman's right to choose. As a senator she has voted yes to laws strengthening this stance and no to laws that would weaken this stance. She even condones a minor's right to get an abortion without the consent of their parents.

Democratic Presidential Candidate John Edwards:

John Edwards is pro-choice. He voted no on three occasions to laws that would weaken his position. He believes that a woman's right to choose is protected by the constitution.

Republican Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani:

Rudy Giuliani is pro-choice despite being a republican candidate. He feels that the government should keep out of peoples personal decisions.

Republican Presidential Candidate Mike Huckabee:

Mike Huckabee is pro-life. Although he respects the law as it is right now, he would support a change banning abortion if given the opportunity. He doesn't believe that a compromise could be met between pro-life advocates and pro-choice advocates.

Democratic Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich:

Dennis Kucinich originally was pro-life but his stance change to pro-choice in 2003. He now believes that Roe vs. Wade should be upheld at all costs. Prior to 2003, he voted against abortion laws but since that time he has voted to strengthen those laws.

Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain:

John McCain is against abortions except if there is an issue of rape or incest. He feels that Roe vs. Wade should be overturned. He also thinks that minor should have to consult their parents before getting an abortion.

Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama:

Barack Obama is pro-choice and he believes that a woman would make the right choice for her situation. He also voted no on minors notifying parents before getting an abortion.

Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney:

Mitt Romney is pro-life although in the past he didn't always support that view. He regrets not voting his conscious and would like to see Roe vs. Wade overturned. But he has also stated that he wouldn't get involved with trying to change the abortion laws.

Republican Presidential Candidate Fred Thompson:

Fred Thompson is against abortion and believes that the decision should be left up to the states. He feels that Roe vs. Wade was a decision that should not have been made for the country and the decision was taken away from the states.

Well there you have it. Those are some of the top candidates' views on abortions. So where do you stand on this issue? Will this be a determining factor on which candidate you chose as the next president of the United States?

The thing I dislike the most about Obama is that he voted against the Child Born Alive Bill. There was practice in some places that if a abortion didn't go as planned and the baby was born alive the Dr.s would just place the living baby in a closet until it died. When this was discovered a bill was formed that would prevent this horrible practice and Mr. Obama is one of onlt two Senators that did not vote for this bill. I think that even pro-choicers can see that this isn't abortion, this is infanticide.

I think Obama is very wrong on a lot of subjects but there is one that I have to STRONGLY DISAGREE with... Partial child abortion. I think if a woman is stupid enough to get pregnant when she knows she doesnt want a baby, she should have to have her baby... And teens shouldnt be having sex anyway so they shouldnt have to have an abortion. If a girl is stupid enough to get knocked up as a teen, I think she should be made to have her baby, even if it means putting it up for adoption!!!!!!!!!
