Deer Park is a town on Long Island in the state of New York, while Deerpark is located in Upstate New York. The two towns are confused quite a bit because their names are pronounced the same way. Deer Park was actually settled over 130 years before Deerpark.
Features
Deer Park Avenue (Route 231), known as DPA, is a famous drag strip where dragsters used to race each other in illegal drag races. Restaurants and shops now line DPA, and is a local "cruise" spot, where people drive up and down the strip to socialize.
History
Deer Park was first settled in 1666. The Long Island Rail Road was built through Deer Park in 1842, which spurred a population boom. The first Post Office opened in Deer Park in 1851. The first school opened in Deer Park in 1902.
Fun Fact
President John Quincy Adams loved Deer Park so much that he built an estate there where he would spend his summers. Now, John Quincy Adams Elementary School is located on the original Adams Estate property.

Rodney Dangerfield was born and raised in Deer Park.

Deer Park is a stop on the Long Island Rail Road's Ronkonkoma line. The stop is located between Wyandanch and Brentwood. The LIRR started running through Deer Park in 1842.
