Above the Rest

Scott Bauer
A thermal spiral under wing

Graciously lifting towards the clouds

As gods eye view of the land

Plummeting mountains before her glance

Alone and unwanted

But envied to distraction

With the wind as speed

Muscle and sinews as strength

And surprise as an ally

She collapse and drops

Dancing on the line between control and panic

Grace shadows the descent

To catch and surpass it

As the prey huddles

The victims are easily identified

Promising sustenance

The struggle is momentary

But sufficient for the victim's escape

Undaunted, the hunter glides onto another wind

Rising back into her own element

Searching and waiting
