Ingredients
Serves 8
1 bottom and top crust Pie Crust - store bought or homemade
10 medium Apples - peeled and sliced
1 half cup Flour
1 quarter teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon or less Cinnamon
1 teaspoon sliced thin Butter
Directions for Absolutely Sugar-Free Apple Pie
1
Place chopped and peeled apples in a mixing bowl.Mix in flour, salt and cinnamon to evenly coat the apples2
Put the coated apple pieces in the bottom pie crust in the pie pan.Very thin pieces of butter are placed on top of the apple pieces. Try to cover most of the tops of the apples, but it is fine if the apples are not entirely covered with the butter slices. Leave the butter sitting on top of the apple slices and don't mix any more.Cover the pie with the top crust.3
Bake 60 minutes at 425 or whatever the pie crust maker recommends. The filling shrinks about 30 percent in volume when the pie is finished baking. You can eat it right out of the oven, but it will fall apart, but taste wonderful. If you let it cool, it will hold its shape more.Tip
No artificial sweeteners are necessary. The sweetness is controlled by the variety of apple used. The sweetest one I have made used all Washington Delicious while the most sour pie was made with all Granny Smith. I have used Gravenstein and Fuji and mixtures of all these types. My favorite is all Gravenstein apples, but the other mixtures are very yummy, just different
