Absorbed, Today We Pine

Degreasing the Family Room

Tommy Hayfield
Today we pine, absorbed with doubt, inclined
to see unswept dirt that suspiciously
sneaks 'neath argumentative, carpeted
yet animated objects. Speak Freely!

My mind argues with the dirt yet it smirks
and calculates as filth does. Unrestrained,
it mocks the vacuum! The dustpan it irks!
My yet-to-be assigned rag is tearstained!

From what devilish love story! Does dawn
daily launch this child's toy, this rocking horse
unable to prevent or to forewarn!

A racehorse would be more useful: it awes.
It's center is clearly perceived, s'a force.
When will our concern feel free to be born?

I have to say I'm as thrilled that people like my poem on this page as I am that Ford did such a funny ad campaign and chose to put them with my poems (sonnets). Thank you for the great vibe!

Any sonnet writer or poet who stops in here to read please send me a link to your page (either your profile page or a poem you choose)...I'm putting a story together with hyperlinks to fill the need for a page which directs people to all AC's poets. Poets need some more respect. I'm gonna' attach a video to briefly summarize all those poets I know of on AC. Please, take the time to do that!
