Who is Causing Our Articles to Rise and Fall?
We pour our hearts into our work
Until some button-clicking jerk,
With nothing else to do but lurk
Clicks down our postings with a smirk.
Who is this dark de-rater creep
That sends our writing to the heap?
He makes real writers want to weep.
We wish he'd take a flying leap!
Our articles, they rise and fall,
Dictated by some know-it-all.
The rebound sends us off the wall.
Hello: This is a wake-up call!
Perhaps it's a computer bug
That sweeps our stories 'neath the rug.
Could be AC needs a plug
To keep each subject safe and snug.
We dare not hit the top-rate page,
Lest this sad soul will send his rage,
As he persists on his rampage
To rate, derate and then upstage.
If it's a glitch, then we'll endure
Awaiting days much less unsure.
Once it's addressed, we'll be sure
And write for readers, not a boor.
If it's a reader, may he be
Stopped in his de-rating spree.
May his clicking finger flee
Causing him insanity.
May his knuckles bend and freeze;
May his digits cramp and seize,
Till he utters guarantees
He will not click his mouse with ease.
As writers pen the best we can,
For quality, not flash-in-pan,
We speak respect, from man-to-man,
Ignoring this orangutan.
De-Rater, you will face the ban!

"People only throw stones at trees laden with fruit" French saying It would be nice if AC would fix that rating thing. When I started and was reading about "The Downrater" I thought it was an AC editor, giving the ax to writers. Of course, I also thought the CP's were adult professionals. Whenever I rated an article a "You have already rated this article" message would appear, and as I began to understand what "the downrater" was I wondered how they could do it. AC fixed my problem, and, yo now I can play the downrater game too! Sad that people have nothing better to do with their time than purposely downrate out of jealousy.
