AC Recap for Couples Costumes

Some of the Best AC Content on Costumes for Couples

Paige Nieto
One of the fun things about Halloween is dressing up obviously (although who can discount the free candy). Sometimes it is even more fun when you have someone to dress up with so you and someone else are matching pairs. Here are some of Associated Content's best articles of yester-years to help you decide on a couple costumes to be one part of.

*note: I have divided this recap into two separate parts the first half for a parent and child or ideas for twins and the second for significant others to help give you a whole realm of costume ideas this year*

Seven Halloween Costume Ideas for Parent and Child (A. Hermitt--September 18, 2006)
This article gives you a run down of seven ideas for a parent and child and doesn't just restrict to a mother and child (there is an idea for Daddy and Baby being Spider-man and Spider). What I really enjoy about this article is that you can make most of the costumes yourself or can get the items you need for it cheap. Plus most of the ideas are for infants so you if want to go out on baby's first Halloween or there is a older sibling the family can still go out trick or treating and baby can be apart of the Halloween fun.

Top Five Budget Friendly Halloween Costumes for Twins 2009 (Danielle Crofford Fetters--September 4, 2009)
What I really enjoy about Fetters article is that she is creative in her ideas (I mean how many people would automatically think of a hippie and mime for a Peace and Quiet costume)? But not only does she give you truly creative ideas for your twins she breaks it down simply so you can make the costumes yourself and save yourself a little bit of cash which, let's be frank, if you have twins is always welcome. I think all the costumes that she has listed (including a chicken and egg, and a pair of fuzzy dice) are creative and the big added bonus is that they are simple you can make yourself.

Halloween Costumes for Siblings (Laura Ward--October 11, 2007)
Sometimes simplicity is best, as Ward shows with her article. Simple costumes such as a cat and mouse or mouse or toothpaste and toothbrush are creative and unique enough that not many people may think of doing it at the same time. Plus she also gives you great group ideas for a large family or large group of trick-or-treaters such as Dorothy and the gang, or Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Whatever you choose, Ward helps to give you some unique ideas to help make Halloween fun.

Great Maternity Halloween Costumes for Couples (Gipsy--October 15, 2008)
If you're not like me and you want to go out during Halloween while you're pregnant (I was so tired the entire nine months I had hardly any energy) this article gives some great ideas for a father and mother-to-be where they can incorporate their bundle of joy before she/he is even born. One of the most unique is doctor and ultrasound where the father dresses like the doctor and the mom wears a black maternity T-shirt with the ultrasound picture scanned on it. I like this because it gives pregnant women good ideas for their costume and shows that they can still go out and have a good time on Halloween even if they can't drink.

Creative and Unique Halloween Costume Ideas for Couples (Rachel Carpenter--September 22, 2008)
I like that Carpenter gives you a lot of ideas (including the Peace and Quiet one you read about in Fetters's article) and how hers are just as unique. Take a tornado and Dorothy or a college grad and debt for instant; that should have many people at the Halloween gathering laughing and complimenting you on your creativity.
Plus Carpenter also tells you where you can get the items you need for your fun costumes and how to make them seem more authentic.

Five Cheap Couples Halloween Costumes for People of All Genders (Eri Luxton--September 3, 2009)
What I really like about Luxton's article is that she gives ideas that can be used of same sex couples as well as those of different genders. She is also creative with her ideas including a playing card and a gambler and the sun and the moon an idea I really like because she gives you the basic costume you need but you can let your imagination go wild with all the accessories that you can add to make the costume better.

Halloween Ideas for Couples (Sara Quinlan--September 7, 2009)
Sometimes oldies are goodies though and in Qunlan's article she shows this giving you ideas such as a saloon girl and westerner or (one of my personal favorites) an 80's Prom King and Queen because just think all the fun you could have trying to find quintessential tacky prom dresses the reflect the if nothing else unique fashion of that decade. I like these because they are simple costumes and as such should be cheap to buy or even make if you are the crafty kind.

Halloween Costumes for You and Your Honey (GK--October 9, 2008)
Once again very simple ideas for costumes that quite honestly you could make from items lying around your house. I particularly like the Scooby-Doo and Shaggy outfit because either character could be a woman (if you're Shaggy you could just use brown eyeliner for a goatee) and a brown sweatshirt with black felt circles and a dog collar for Scooby-Doo. Once again very simple but nice costumes and creative.

Costumes for Couples (Jessica Vandecaveye--August 28, 2009)
She comes right out of the corner with one of everyone's childhood favorites Raggedy Ann and Andy by telling you what you need for the costumes and even gives a little bit of advice to make it more gothic if that is what you want to do. What I like about Vandecaveye's article is that she gives you traditional couple costumes but gives you some inexpensive ways to try to make them on your own so you're not spending almost $100 on a costume plus some of the ideas are things you may not think about right off the bat so she brings you ideas that you may have overlooked.

Halloween Costumes for Couples 2009 (Elena dal Friuli--September 2, 2009)
She gives you different venues of costumes and also some of the couples most closely associated with them (such as Bonnie and Clyde for the Gangsta couple); Friuli also gives give links to where you can go and find the items you would need for these costumes and where you can find them. She also gives you an outer space idea for Luke and Leia (although please remember they are brother and sister so if you act lovey in this costume you may get a weird look). I like this one because she also gives you traditional "couples" and tells you both what you need to make it look authentic to help you get an idea and provides a link so you can see it which gives you the option of buying it already made or having a visual aid to work from.

Happy Halloween! Hopefully this gave you some good ideas for couple costumes!
