AC Twitter Challenge - a Social Quest of the Heart

April Higney
As a writer of poetry, contributing on Associated Content, I found myself attempting a promotional quest at the beginning of entering into the Twitter world. At first it wasn't easy, there were multiple auto-bots as I called them, tweets with no responses and issues that really got to me amongst it, because as any writer trying to get page views, auto programs don't click to read the content you make the attempt to feature. I nearly gave up the quest, but then I started to encounter many with the same mindset. One in particular I am so grateful for was a gentleman by the name of Trey Pennington ( @treypennington ) who was focusing in issues of the social media enterprise. Somehow in a way he sparked some thoughts in me that gave me an extra push to stick with it, that it may prove in time to be rewarding.

Over the last few weeks it really has set precedence in much that I have done, or tried to do since the beginning. Many things starting to come together, like a social puzzle, each piece meaning something special in it, with all involved surrounding follows and followings.

My most determined quest as a poetry writer, and I chuckle at myself as I say artist, because it is something also I have loved to do since I could ever remember, is to somehow pull together and promote in the creative arts. Creative arts to me are not limited because they cover vast parts of society and its makeup. There are those in my follows that are musicians, maybe writers of music within the industry, there are those who design and put together websites, there are those who maybe even write of social media such as Trey Pennington. They are all somehow connected to the arts in some manner despite how we look upon it. It takes great skill to apply each individual course of action, and in each creating something somehow moving or inspirational, or encouraging, or informational, pieces of that puzzle that somehow connects to me, and many others who share certain views.

I have placed myself into a wonderful environment amongst many types of writers, on Associated Content, and connected with in Twitter as well. They attempt the tasks much like myself, promoting the content of their articles. As part of my quest it is a wonderful experience to try to help by retweeting their links to the work they have done, if it is possible for me to do so, and I am online. Maybe as part of this AC Twitter Challenge more have come to Twitter from AC , and even if I have not yet read the work, I try to maintain retweeting it to assist in more page views in their behalf. In that aspect of encounters I have been so rewarded in connecting to many that I had not yet met on AC. It also gives me a greater opportunity to review what they have written at a time when I can. Another high point is that I sort of get to know some on another level with tweeting back and forth of laughters, and life experiences, and comments upon my work that encourage, which of course so being that poetry writer I am, is an emotional trigger in writing as well. Some of the most wonderful AC users I've found along Twitter for starters was a lovely lady I consider a great friend on the internet, Langley Cornwell ( @LangleyCornwell - like an internet sister ). Not too long after I started my Twitter usage she was one of the first ones that really made it a better social experience with laughters of poison ivy, and the auto-bots. A nicer more realistic part of the twitter experience, to tweet personally with real people, sharing in real life stories and issues. It amazes me how incredible AC contributors have been retweeting my links and really setting themselves into my poetic realm with wonderful comments that sometimes bring me to tears of happiness. That my poetry is really enjoyed, something that can maybe even uplift in my words, which is the greatest satisfaction of all, much deeper than monetary success, (though that is also an attempt). Some of the wonderful "tweeps" as so called along twitter, that also are on AC that I've encountered are: @RandyInman - a funny man who really gets me laughing in his work and his personality. @byfaithonly - Faith Draper who I highly admire in friendship, and have had the honor to interact with on many personal levels, she has great advice and a big heart, and has even featured a poem by me specific to her in her endeavors on her blog site. She has also been a great help to me in some of my life issues, (another internet sister.) Another rather new encounter I so adore is Rachel DeCarlos @NoFrillsGreece and so easily regarded another internet sister, who has a tendency to make me laugh, and her writing is always a wonderful experience to read no matter what it contains. Her talent very admirable. @MaxineNelson1 a new encounter on twitter but a joyful sweetheart, who may I say also has great taste in musical interests of classic rock and more. Always so cheerful and thankful, and tends to brighten a day like a little ray of sunshine every time I see her tweet at me. Okay so to me many I'm featuring are all internet sisters or some brothers! @Rachel1919 who is a retweeting queen who keeps us up to date on all the action of the famous with her writing skills. @mightyminimoose who is such an inspiration in her multitude of health articles and kind tweeting nature. @MomieTullottes - Lyn Lomasi, who has incredible information articles that benefit so many in tough times, and one in particular that stood out in my mind, of course a poem reflecting more of her creative writing skills. @LKunsthure who recently really intrigued me in her photography skills with her slideshows, I may not have had the chance to view had it not been for twitter. @LynnMac04 - Lynn Mac who is always so sweet inquiring of me and retweeting my work. It really can be so beneficial to have people caring, concerned of personal well-being. (Those who have gotten to know me a little more, know I am human with human issues like anyone - health concerns, family concerns, and things regarding even the "love" life) There are others I still wish to tweet more with from AC that I'm still yet discovering, like @luminary2000 - Christopher Harding, who writes of musical interest topics on AC. @CarrieMatilda @elizawynn as well as others. I hope I maintained their twitter user names correctly here. I suppose I could go on and on highlighting each one but it may make this article far too long to submit.

More recently incredible painters, illustrators, other writers emerged, in a wonderful social connection I cannot say enough about. A sweet vibrant abstract artist who moves in emotion, and really has been great online support is @kchall. Another who has beautiful skills in painting also @katost or @robinpedrero or @InternetArtist and @Winsorandnewt as well as poets such as @storylet and @lizbeth33 and many more I wish to tweet with more often. Their work moves me in incredible ways through their emotions, perhaps in a similar fashion as I attempt to do in my poetry.

Others include other writers, like @wolfprowl Shon Saylor that I have connected to in great respects, and I'm full of smiles as he has regarded me as a great influence to keep going with his own poetry. Wonderful people like @urbancrafter who puts some fun to the routine tweeting with her #haiku posts and getting me wired for blip and making me laugh. Or an incredible writer who is so taken by many wonderful and admired twitter users he uses his writing skills to highlight the beauty within them on his blog, @AyrtonDSilva, and then the wonderful photography blog by @tourscotland who makes me dream of beautiful places far off. Unfortunately it would take a long time to list all those I involve myself around and the incredible spark they add to Twitter.

The amount of people that I have made my rounds attempting to get to know has been a very valuable tool even with my own writing, in all emotions, in all of my personal situations the experience is truly golden, from the tweets of beautiful past poets, quotes, music bits, and all of the wonderful links connecting blogs, small businesses, the wonderful arts, photography, authors, AC contributors posting their writing and slideshows, it is all there to share, to learn from, to connect to, and most of all maybe even maintain the most rewarding friendships that somehow bring it all together.

Much is loved.

I think this was exactly the type of report AC was hoping for... Writers coming together to help promote each other and be friends, too. It's encouraging to see what Twitter has done for you and I can only see it getting better. Thank you for the mention in such great company, as Randy said. We can always count on you for inspiring poetry, RTs and fun tweets almost any hour of the day or night! Thanks for a great article!
