AC Twitter Challenge: Utilizing Twitter.Com To Help Promote Content
My Experience with Twitter by Thillukka

Most of you reading this likely know what the AC Twitter Challenge is. For those of you who don't, it is a way for Associated Content contributors to promote their content by posting links and updates on their profiles at Twitter.com. If you are wondering what Twitter is (I'm sure you've at least heard of it!), it is a sort of social networking website that consists of a list of 140-character-or-less posts (basically, updates from each of the people you are following).
Does Twitter actually help increase pageviews?
Since signing up for the AC Twitter Challenge, I have been consciously making an effort to utilize my Twitter page a little more often. However, since I have very little time anymore to write articles for Associated Content, there isn't much I have been able to promote lately other than my AC page in general.
I haven't kept track of numbers enough to prove that Twitter has helped increase my pageviews at Associated Content, but I feel like it has helped, at least a little. I enrolled in the AutoPost option a while back, which means that every time I'm published at AC, a link is posted to my Twitter profile. And it seems that, every time I post something on my profile, I gain another follower or two. That thought, at least, gives me some hope.
Utilizing other social networking sites...
Another thing I believe is that it helps to interlink several different networking sites - in other words, Twitter alone may not help you achieve the results for which you strive. Every time you are published, post a link on each of these sites. For example, other than Twitter, I also keep a blog and use the AutoPost option for Facebook. Also, post a link to your blog on Twitter or a link to your Twitter profile on Facebook every now and then.
Interesting people I follow on Twitter:
Only three of the people I follow on Twitter are real-life acquaintances (probably nobody you would know!). The rest are just random people I thought would be interesting to follow. Several of these people include various AC contributors such as: Sabah Karimi - sabahk; Angie Mohr - angiewritergirl; and Michelle Devon - MichelleLDevon, among several others.
Signing up for a Twitter account was definitely worth my while. And to anyone who is seriously interested in writing online for a living (or, at least, for a little extra spending cash): it will be worth yours, as well.

Am I the ONLY one not on Twitter yet? Like Julia, I've been hesitant.
I signed up for a twitter account but I'm just not that motivated to use it. I do like the option of the auto post though.
Thank you for sharing your Twitter experiences.
It sounds like this worked great for you!
