Academy Award Bling

As I watched stars and starlets dazzle the Oscar night red carpet from the comfort of my home, I couldn't help but notice all of the bling!

Did you notice any trends? Gaudy must be in, this 81st Annual Academy Award ceremony. Heavy diamond and platinum gold collars were all over the red carpet.

Picturesque chandelier earrings hung from the ears of leading ladies such as Angeline Jolie and Kate Winslet in emerald and heavy platinum gold. Did you see the massive emerald rocks Jolie wore? A-mazing.

Word on the street is that these leading ladies were the front runners for winning the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role for their work in The Reader and Changeling. This should not come as a surprise if you've seen either of these films.

I happen to be a major fan of Changeling. It's a powerful expose of the corruption infested LA Police Department during the late 20's. It's also a completely true story about the horror a woman suffered when her young son was abducted.

The screenplay was produced with perfection, honoring the courage of a single mother fighting against injustice. The cinematography gave the film a very real antique feel as well. Tom Stern, the films cinematographer is also an Oscar nominee.

Emerald earring wearing star, Jolie which many might think is completely over exposed in the media had a very good chance to win. I have to say her acting is so strong in the film. It is a must see. Bravo to Winslet on her win.

I saw the film online, I hate to condone bootlegging but I did try to see it for free. To my dismay, however, I had such a hard time downloading it. I finally gave in and rented it from a grocery store vending machine and it was so worth that buck fifty.

Go watch the movie. You won't regret it.

Really? I noticed heavier pieces this year than in years prior. You might be right though, fewer starlets sported bling, but the ones that did went fairly gaudy.

I thought the jewelry was played down this year
