Academy Awards 2011 List of Winners; Best & Worst Fashion Slideshow (Links)

The 83rd Annual Academy Awards 2011 was hosted last night by Anne Hathaway and James Franco, and the biggest winner that emerged was 'The King's Speech' taking four Oscars home, including Best Picture.

Hathaway and Franco, ages 28 and 32 respectively, were the youngest ever to host the Oscars, and their script (leaked via Deadline.com earlier) stuck very close to that version, thus in one aspect made the show very predictable.

The 83rd Academy Awards had been promoted as "the young and hip Oscars" and definitely proved to be so when Melissa Leo dropped an F-bomb as she accepted the award for best supporting actress for her role in 'The Fighter.'

After accepting the award, Leo borrowed 94-year-old Kirk Douglas' cane who was presenter for that category and was humorous himself as he flirted with Anne Hathaway.

Not surprisingly, Natalie Portman took Best Actress, Colin Firth won for Best Actor, Tom Hooper won for Best Director ('The King's Speech'), and highly touted 'The Social Network' won for writing (Adapted Screenplay), Best Original Score and Best Editing.

As far as fashion goes, it was mostly winners who graced the red carpet last night with only a few odd choices such as Cate Blanchett who wore a lilac colored Givenchy Haute Couture Gown with a bodice that resembled a seat cushion. Click here to view.

Natalie Portman wore a plum-colored Rodarte gown with Swarovski crystals with an empire-waist that showed off her growing baby bump (click here), and Reese Witherspoon wore a classic black and white gown by Giorgio Armani Prive and was adorned in diamond and emeralds by Neil Lane (click here).

Jennifer Hudson looked beautiful in a tangerine-colored Atelier Versace gown (click here), and Hailee Steinfeld looked like an adorable princess in her Marchesa tea-length gown here.

what Einstein in the Academy hierarchy thought Kirk Douglas would add prestige to the show? He was embarassing, not because of his speech, he can't help that, but for his long-winded "look at me" ramblings. Really, it should have been a former Oscar winner give out this award. Ben Kingsley was there, he would have done a better job. Not fair to the nominees. .
