ACC Tournament 2010 Results: Maryland and Virginia Tech Bounced in ACC Tournament

The 2010 ACC Tournament Quarterfinal Results May Have Surprised Some ACC Fans

ACC Tournament 2010 results have been surprising. The early 2010 ACC Tournament results of the day revealed Duke beating Virginia, but that was the only game that went according to script. The other two 2010 ACC Tournament results from earlier in the day ended up being upsets, leaving just the North Carolina State and Florida State game to be completed Friday night.

Virginia pulled an upset victory against Boston College in the first round of the 2010 ACC Tournament, but got up-ended by Duke in the second round during a very defensively minded game. It was a tough game for both teams, with Duke coming out on top in the end. Miami also pulled an upset in the first round, taking out fifth seeded Wake Forest in the second game of the day. Georgia Tech then beat North Carolina, and Clemson beat North Carolina State to set up the rest of the quarterfinal match-ups.

The North Carolina loss ended their streak of consecutive years making the NCAA Tournament, as it seems that their 16-16 overall record won't be good enough to make the 2010 NCAA Tournament. The big surprise though is Miami, who came into the tournament as the No. 12 seed in the ACC Tournament, and after several upsets have the chance to play Duke for a spot in the 2010 ACC Championship Game. Their only way into the 2010 NCAA Tournament is to win the ACC Tournament and they know it.
