ACC Tournament schedule 2010 has already started with first round play. The ACC Tournament schedule will have Duke trying to clinch a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, as an ACC Tournament Championship would give them one for sure. There are 12 teams participating in the tournament, with the fifth through twelve seeds playing on Thursday to determine which four teams will make it to the quarterfinals. The four teams that got first round byes were Duke, Maryland, Florida State, and Virginia Tech, with all four of those schools needing a strong showing in the tournament to get a good seed in the upcoming 2010 NCAA Tournament.

There are two very important storylines in the 2010 ACC Tournament, beginning with regular season conference champion Duke trying to finish out the season strong with another tournament championship. The door opened for them to easily clinch one of those four No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament, as No. 3 ranked Syracuse lost their first game in the Big East Tournament. Now if Duke wins the ACC Tournament, they will be guaranteed one of those top four spots. Maryland has other plans though, as they want to upset Duke again, and gain themselves an even better seed in the NCAA's. This sets up some great possibilities for the 2010 ACC Tournament Championship on Sunday.
