Anne Reed
Creating a falling leaves scene on your wall is an easy inexpensive way to create designer décor in your home. The techniques used are easy; it only takes a few hours to decorate your home with professional interior designer results. Use palm leaves to create a tropical paradise, oak or maple to create a seasonal display or use different leaf types with eye-popping colors to give a room a fun & funky look.

Tools you will need:

Wall paint (semi-gloss or enamel)

Leaf stamps

Foam brushes

Craft paint

Craft paint brushes

Newspaper

Water-based polyurethane (optional)

Paint roller

Roller tray

Drop cloth

To create a tropical display:

Step 1 Position the drop cloth underneath the area you will be painting; making sure to cover any furniture that may be near. Spread out the newspaper near your work area and arrange your materials.

Step 2 Pour a small amount of light green paint into the roller tray.

Step 3 Dip the foam brush into the paint. Using the foam brush, coat the palm leaf stamp.

Step 4 Stamp leaves onto the wall. To create the tropical effect: stamp the leaves starting about a quarter of the way from the top of the wall. Stamp over leaves to create a bushy effect.

Step 5 Using dark green craft paint and a brush, paint stems on the leaves. Use a light touch to give the leaves a wispy feel.

Step 6 Using light green or yellow craft paint, paint highlights on the leaves along the outlines and / or along the veins and stems.

Step 7 Coat the wall with water-based polyurethane to protect the falling leaf design. This step is optional.
