The onset of global recession has confirmed the worst possible nightmares for office-goers, consisting of job-cuts and of being out of work. The situation one year back was that of a booming world economy which spiralled down with such unimaginable speed towards the bottom line that it has left everyone grappling with a fast approaching recession and grabbing on to any and every possibility that might help to mitigate the crisis. Owing to the situation, the job availability has also turned contrary to what it was previously. Therefore, if you are employed, then it is all the more imperative for you to hold on to your existing job rather than effect a change which might land you amongst the unemployed. The present job that you hold may not be a perfect dream job, but here are some suggestions that might help you to accept the situation and thus retain your source of income:

· You could begin by appreciating the fact that you do have a job, which is something that others may not be having due to lack of experience, skills, competency etc. The fact that your present employment status, whatever it may be, saves you the trouble and the mental harassment of going through interviews and job searches should be in itself a motivating factor for you to put in your best and maintain a high productivity.

· A positive attitude is definitely an asset in any job because not only does it help you to tackle difficult seniors and colleagues in your workplace but it also inspires you to utilize your talent effectively. If you decide to take up the challenges in a proactive manner then you are on the right path because a determined effort fulfils half the task, the other half depending on your talent.

· Creativity is the best way through which you could raise not only your own mood but that of your colleagues as well. Creativity can also be employed while decorating the workplace as an effective and clever use of colours and other artefact's could prove to be instrumental in raising the morale of the employees, thus resulting in higher productivity.

· Sharing your skills and experience with your colleagues, especially juniors, would not only win you a number of well-wishers in your workplace but will also give you a better grip on your own job. Being a senior, it would greatly add to your own self-esteem if you see your organisation benefiting due to your mentoring and guiding influence on your juniors. In addition, it would propagate a feeling of friendliness and fraternity amongst all concerned, thus winning you accolades in your workplace.

Therefore, the job that you have may not be as bad as you think; in fact, by looking at it positively you might realize that it is just what you need in order to be happy and successful.
