Keeping the face clean of oils is one way to become proactive. This can be achieved by keeping hair out of the face. Hair produces a natural amount of oils, but unfortunately for some people, the amount of oil that the body produces is in an exceeding amount. The oils from the hair can be rubbed into the skin, causing acne breakouts. It is best to keep hair away from your face, even when sleeping. If the individual has long hair, they can be proactive by keeping the hair in a loose pony tail while sleeping.
Another way to be proactive is to make sure that the area that has the breakouts is cleaned several times a day. A mild soap can be used upon the skin. It is best to use a soap that does not have glycerol in it if you have oily skin as well as acne . The glycerol will only agitate the acne even more, creating further breakouts. Often times, the glycerol in soap will either be listed as glycerol, or glycerin. They are both one in the same thing. Keeping the glycerol to a moderate amount in soap is best for any skin type.
There are also creams and oral medications that can be prescribed to help decrease, or in some instances, stop the acne all together. Being proactive about acne in this way is very manageable , and often cheap. Some acne medications are offered over the counter, other medications must be prescribed by a physician. If the acne is severe enough, it is best for the individual to seek professional help from a dermatologist. The dermatologist will diagnose the individual with whatever acne proactive treatment that they deem necessary. Should the acne be bad enough, a combination of oral and dermal medication will be prescribed. This is not as common, but should not be of too much heightened concern if this is the steps that are taken.
The most extreme cases of being proactive with diminishing acne are different levels of surgery. A dermatologist may have to manually remove cysts, either by lancing the cyst with a scalpel and removing the cyst sac, or by entering the cyst with a syringe and extracting the fluids. There may be a cause for extensive acne removal, including dermabrasion. With dermabrasion, layers of skin are surgically lasered off of the infected area. Dermabrasion is quite often a last resort, though.
It is easy to be proactive with acne. Keep the effected area clean, and free of obtrusive oils. Try to minimize the amount of contact that the acne is in contact with foreign oils. Apply medicine, if needed. See a dermatologist if the acne is severe enough. To have a beautiful complexion, one must take into consideration all of the above steps. It is not difficult to achieve the acne free complexion when you are proactive!
