First things first, if anyone's ever tried to lose weight. There is a word that is thrown around a lot. But it is never really discussed in detail. That word I'm talking about is a calorie. What is a calorie? You may ask, a calorie is basically a measurement of heat, a calorie is defined as the amount of heat which will raise the temperature of one gram of water by 1 degrees Celsius.
The most simplest way to lose weight is to eat a diet low in calories and fat. Now that most food distributors and restaurants took the trans fat out of most foods, they helped us out a little bit. Not a lot, but a little. If you ever read the back of a food label, it reads percent daily values are based on a 2000 calorie diet. The 2000 calorie diet is from the United States Department of Agriculture. I think we all can remember being haunted by that food pyramid back in grade school. It basically told us what to eat, and how much of it to eat.
Now there is something I'd like to share with everyone, that is most valuable in achieving a healthy weight loss. You must, I repeat must eat breakfast. I know a lot of us don't, including myself. Most of us don't have time, we're too busy trying to get that extra 5 minutes of sleep. Most of us only have time to get up, brush our teeth, shower and get ready for work and school. But I say, get up a few minutes earlier than what your use to, to have breakfast.
Eating breakfast when you wake up in the morning will help you with three things. Eating breakfast increases your metabolism, thus helping you burn more calories during the course of the day, and it helps you from over eating a meal later on in the day.
Metabolism, what is it? According to wikipedia.com a metabolism is the set of chemical reactions that occur in living organisms in order to maintain life. These processes allow organisms to grow and reproduce, maintain their structures, and respond to their environments.
I would suggest weighing yourself on a regular basis. Weighing yourself frequently can help you catch small weight gains, therefore allowing you to take the necessary steps to correct them. Another tip would be to cut down on eating out. While trying to lose weight, it is ok to have cheat days, but you should not eat out more than 2 times a week.
Now remember folks, the best weight loss program is one that offers a realistic, healthy and fun approach. A program that allows you to eat the foods that you enjoy, yet makes it possible for you to achieve your weight loss goal. Now go out and see results!
