Acid Reflux (GERD)

A Natural Remedy

Glenda Glayzer
The last time I woke strangling on my own vomit was two years ago.

I know it sounds gross, but people who suffer with acid reflux can identify, and those who don't have it need to understand how bad it is.

In my case, the stomach acid would slide into my esophagus and coat my vocal chords. Then, I would breathe the acid into my lungs.

The immediate pain of having acid eating at the vocal chords is excruciating. I would sit up after it happened and swallow chunks of ice for hours to soothe the burn. The lungs, however, took days to clear of the assault of foreign substances.

The long-term effects of GERD (acid reflux) can kill. Esophageal Cancer forms in tissues lining the esophagus (the muscular tube through which food passes from the throat to the stomach).

Estimated new cases and deaths from esophageal cancer in the United States in 2010:

New cases: 16,640
Deaths: 14,500

The medical community is quick to prescribe medications to deal with the excess acid produced to deal with digesting our foods. I also used these medications for years, but as I've gotten older, I realize the fewer medications I'm dependent on; the longer I'm likely to have a high-quality life.

After that last "event," I searched the internet for natural ways to disarm those efficient little acid pumps in my stomach. Nobody would give me the answer without paying, so in desperation I broke down and bought the treatment.

I offer that insight to you today for free, in hopes that it may be of help in dealing with this miserable condition so many of us have:

When you feel the burning in your stomach, eat a fresh apple.

That's it!

I haven't had an event since. Oh, I still have the burn, but I recognize it for what it is, go get my apple and enjoy the wonderful experience of eating its sweet deliciousness.

There is no need to take expensive pills, nor is there a need to suffer the pain and fear attached to GERD.

An apple a day!
