I don't know if she has had acne or not, but could you imagine having your flaw exposed to millions of people? Of course, most celebrities have great make-up artists who can help cover up flaws, but I'm sure it still bothers some. Just look at Jessica Simpson's infomercial for a popular acne skincare and you can hear how acne affected her.
Now, I'm not an aesthetician or dermatologist, but I have struggled with acne. And to my credit, I have tried many different skincare lines trying to resolve my acne problem. I've tried the popular ones on infomercials. I've tried drug store and department store brands. I've tried products sold only by licensed dermatologists and aestheticians. I've even tried some "all natural" brands from health food stores.
What I found is that many of the products did work in clearing up my acne, but they were either too harsh for my skin or too expensive to maintain. That's when my search began. There had to be something that could treat my acne, be gentle enough on my skin, and not cost a fortune.
After a few months of researching, I found the answer. It was inexpensive and safe for my skin as well as the environment. So if you are interested in trying something new to treat your acne while "going green" at the same time, then this natural remedy may interest you.
Start with a great cleanser
A great resource for organic and natural skincare is the book, "The Green Beauty Guide" by Julie Gabriel. One great mask developed by Julie is the charcoal-based detoxifying mask. This mask can double as a cleanser and I found it to quickly clear up my outbreaks. For this cleanser, you mix charcoal powder, aloe vera gel, a few drops of tea tree and calendula essential oils, and sea salt. It's a great deep cleanser and absorbs environmental toxins. It's also naturally soothing to the skin.
If you are short on time or not interested in mixing your own cleanser, the Coal Train Acne Cleanser by Sumbody is a great substitute.
Use a toner that exfoliates
In her book, Julie shares several recipes for toners. If you suffer from acne scars like I do, then try a mixture of apple cider vinegar, mineral water, and crushed aspirin. This toner is also a good exfoliant and astringent.
Don't forget the moisturizer
Even acne-prone skin could benefit from a good moisturizer. I've created my own that hydrates my skin, but doesn't leave it oily. I mix aloe vera gel, organic olive oil, Cetaphil lotion, and a few drops of tea tree and calendula essential oils. After applying, my skin is left feeling soft and smooth.
So whether you are Miley Cyrus or not, if you have acne and are looking for a natural way of treating it, give these green recipes a try. For more details on the recipes, visit my site.
