A.I.D.S can be transmitted through a myriad of ways. Sharing of unsterilized syringes normally practiced by drug addicts allow A.I.D.S to be transmitted from the host to another when intravenous takes place. This is due to drug addicts were not educated about the consequences of sharing syringes leading them to A.I.D.S and this made drug addicts comprises the most A.I.D.S patients around the globe.
Besides that, it can also be transmitted during sexual intercourse in the form of semen if there is tearing of tissues due to penetration of penis into vagina. Unnatural copulation practitioners like homosexuals are more exposed to A.I.D.S. Furthermore, teenagers and adults who practices free sex and unprotected sex are prone to A.I.D.S as well. Sex workers like prostitutes and gigolos are more vulnerable to A.I.D.S due to their nature of work which is related to sexual intercourse and hygienic reasons.
In addition, scientific research may not rule out a possibility that mother with A.I.D.S does transmit the diseases to baby during labor process. Thus, A.I.D.S is also considered a hereditary disease. Apart from that, patients who undergo blood transfusion using untreated blood which is belong to A.I.D.S carriers will also be infected with A.I.D.S. This malady can be transmitted through open and unprotected cuts as well. This is due to A.I.D.S is blood-borne disease.
However, several measures and action must be executed in order to control the outbreak of A.I.D.S. Government and Non-Government Organization (NGO) must work hand in hand to create awareness on dangers of A.I.D.S among public. Awareness campaigns, exhibitions, seminars and talks must be organized from time to time. Set up free medical centre for A.I.D.S patients and provides treatment and counseling services to prevent the spreading of the disease. Education on A.I.D.S must be introduced in institution of learning as part of co-curricula. Hence, this initiative would be beneficial as it will definitely reach out to our leaders of tomorrow about A.I.D.S.
Religious education plays an important role in creating awareness and effects of A.I.D.S to people and community from the religious point of view. The public should practice safe sex by using condom and other contraception which can prevents direct contact of body fluids between sexual partners. For hospitals, direct blood transfusion must be banned in all hospitals. Medical personnel must be trained on proper blood screening from the moment hospital receives the blood packet to the blood transfusion to needy patients. Blood and blood products used in the blood transfusion process must be treated to destroy A.I.D.S virus.
In conclusion, A.I.D.S is a catastrophic disease that affects millions of people in the world. The eradication of A.I.D.S in the world will not be materialized if society does not take the disease seriously and scientific research must be continued in order to find the ultimate solution.
