Across the Midnight Sky

Steven West
Across the midnight sky,
I see a faint image.
Is it a plane?
Is it a UFO?
Is it a star?
Is it the moon?
No!
The image becomes clearer.
I can hear sounds coming from the image.
I hear, "Ho! Ho! Ho!"
Can it be?
The image is swiftly approaching.
I see reindeer in the sky.
I see a jolly, old man.
I see Santa.
I think I've had a little too much eggnog.
I see angels swirling around my head.
Yep, it's the eggnog.
I walk inside my house and see a big package.
Where did it come from?
It is addressed to me.
Perhaps, nah, it can't be.
But then I look through my window,
And I see that image again.
A jolly, fat man is riding in his sleigh.
He shouts, "Merry Christmas."
And I know that wishes really do come true.
I may be a man,
But tonight,
A little boy inside of me beams with delight.
"Merry Christmas Santa," I holler.
"And a Happy New Year too."

We just act as adults, but are we not children or yearn to be one forever? Well done, Steven - siva
