Lynn Pritchett
By meeting AC's standards in publishing quality work, AC contributor's articles and a video have the opportunity every week to earn main web-page showcase features in each qualifying AC category. Even though the articles and video may be timely, they can become timeless with how-to and informational discussions earning page views long after publication.

The outstanding AC Contributors of the articles and video awarded the week beginning June 30, 2009, for AC's Health & Wellness and Dieting & Weight Loss Categories' Showcase Features, earned a goal attainable by all AC contributors following submission guidelines.

July is the American Ophthalmology Association's Eye Injury Awareness Month, and topping the Health and Wellness list for June 30 to July 5, 2009 is Renee Bodkin's article, Eye Safety for Young Children. Eye safety awareness and practices are perpetual, making Renee's informative article timeless.

Summer Alerts on Heat Stroke and Swimmer's Ear

Summer brings higher outdoor temperature affecting our bodies more than we often realize. Cherie Bower's article, Preventing Heat Stroke this Summer, outlines the perfect defense against summer sun and heat issues. Cherie took the dive into writing for the AC in April 2009 and has nearly 150 articles to her credit. It is no wonder her contributions have earned notice in weekly AC features by editors already.

It's difficult to speak of summer and not mention swimming. To keep the fun and frolic without the after aches of swimmer's ear, refer to Karen Jurewicz's article, Home Remedies for Swimmer's Ear. Karen became an AC contributor in March 2009 and she is already making a reputation for herself in the Health and Wellness Category.

Birth Control and HIV Transmission

Preventing the spread of disease is always in the best interest of everyone's health. New technologies and medicines are being developed and approved regularly by the Food and Drug Administration. Michele Blacksberg is a newcomer to AC's Health and Wellness Category contributions since April 2009. Her article, Birth Control Ring to Prevent Transmission of HIV, shares important information on a possible historic medical breakthrough in HIV prevention.

Emergency Communications with Medic Alert

Medical emergencies happen. Sometimes, people cannot speak for themselves due to illness or injury. It is a risky practice to rely on others to be around always who know every medical pre-existing condition in a medical emergency. Learn how to communicate with emergency personnel, even when unconscious, by referring to Jasmine's Health and Wellness Category video, Medic Alert - Protect Your Health. Jasmine is a two year veteran AC contributor of videos on a wide variety of topics from health topics to computer software reviews and pet issues.

Dieting, Fat Burning, and Muscle Growth

Associated Content's Lifestyle Subcategory, Dieting and Weight Loss Showcase Top 5 Features for this mid-summer editor pick list again includes an article from prolific newcomer Cherie Bowser. Cherie's work made the top 5 in two categories the week of June 30 to July 5, 2009. Her article, Losing Weight on a Low Calorie Diet, discusses careful conscientious dieting strategies.

Complimenting this fine group of AC contributions is Four Factors that Determine Fat Burning and Muscle Growth, by Patti Stafford, AC Health & Wellness Category Editor and Contributor. AC's Best New Source of 2009 Recipient, Jan Peterson, is also featured for her article leading further into the discussion of fat burning in How to Burn Bonus Calories. Patti and Jan's articles bring noteworthy insight to the human body's fat burning resources.

Food Fun in Healthy Eating

Dieting is a dirty word unless you realize that everything you eat is your diet. Have some fun with food, without sabotaging your healthy lifestyle, by trying out some of Colleen Fischer's Tips to Make Cookie Baking Fit with a Healthy Diet.

Don't have time to make cookies but still want to play with your food and food words? Then you're sure to have a tasty giggle with Randi Larson's Skinny Cow Mint Ice Cream Sandwich: A Product Review.

Making the AC Weekly Category Editor Pick List

Your articles and videos can earn a place in the AC's weekly top 5 in any of the qualifying categories.

Every week, Associated Content editors search for well crafted, well researched, engaging articles, with appropriate supporting photographs to represent and earn a place on the category feature page for 7 days. An engaging, topical, informative video is also chosen to be among these top 5 weekly showcase features.

When using a photo taken by someone else, follow the TOS (AC's guidelines). There are public domain sites allowing free use of photos which AC allows, like sxc.hu, when AC Contributors correctly credit the photograph. Check AC's guidelines before submitting any articles or photos.
