Act like a Lady, Think like a Man: Book Review

Nova Rose
I must admit that when I heard that Steve Harvey had written a book, my eyes floated up to the ceiling in serious skepticism and mocked disbelief. So after morning coffee I decided to check out what this comedian could possibly have to say about relationships and whether he could give any advice to the people that would not be filled with the same brutal comedy of the Strawberry Letters that they so cynically pore over on his morning shows. Now, to be fair, I have only listened to his morning show a handful of times as mornings I believe should awaken the powers of the brain, hence the wide ranged news cycle of National Public Radio.

Anyway, as I opened the first page of the book expecting to see lines of comedy, I got immediately immersed and hooked to the real life down to earth flow of the words. Of course, the comedian Steve Harvey comes out in every page, but if you can think of serious comedy then you can imagine this.

The premise of the book is that a man needs to know or have three things in place before he can really commit time and attention to a woman. He needs to know who he is, what he does, and how much he makes. With these squared away, men should have more clarity of mind to address the many and varied needs of the female species. Make no mistake, there are no intentions on the part of the author to have the female reader believe that all men's brains are calibrated on an equal scale of sense and he hastens to let us know that yes, the 'players' and idiots do exist.

What the book does give, is a sense of the way that men think and what women should look out for.The plain truth however, is that well-balanced, serious thinking women of high self-esteem will find in this book, the real forte of the author; just plain comedy.
