In this generation of high tech gadgets and online craze, children have become accustomed to minding only their gadgets and kids as young as 7 now have their own cell phones to play with. Video games have been around for quite some time but over the years, the more sophisticated they get and the more fun they become, children have definitely become addicted to them. It's sad to see them get hooked up in activities that do not reflect any childhood in them. Kids should spend a lot of time playing outdoors and having a good time with other kids. Allowing them to do so promotes a good medium to let out their usually high energies. At the same time, it helps to develop their socialization skills. The following activities for teaching children how to use their imaginations can be fun and beneficial for them.
Story telling
You can either read them a story out loud and let their imagination run away with them or you can let them read along with you so as to let them be more proficient in reading and still let them be imaginative. It will be good quality time to spend with your children or nephews and nieces. Choose stories that have colorful pictures. The best ones are also the type of stories that teaches morals. This way, you are also instilling in them good old values which can rarely be found these days. You can also let them make up their own fairy tale or short stories and be sure to put on an amused face. This will get them going and encourage them to use their imaginations.
Artistic Activities
There are a lot of artistic activities to choose from and you will never run out of ideas if you know where to look for more. Paper mache, drawing, painting, clay, and other craft ideas that are fun and colorful are great. Doing any of these activities will definitely help mold their imaginations. The potential that lies in them can now be developed at an early age. Looking online for these activities will yield you with a ton of results.
Game Activities
Games are also effective activities for teaching children how to use their imaginations. There are tons of games to choose from. Charades, board games, and almost all types of games can help kids develop their imaginations. At the same time, it can help them socialize and get physically active.
