After the two women filed a complaint with the Hampshire Police, two London detectives took Christian Bale into custody and transported him to the Central London police station where he was questioned and then released on bail pending further investigation. Christian Bale had just attended the first European screening of his smash hit movie, The Dark Knight, when the incident took place.
Christian Bale appeared in his first major motion picture when he starred as Jim in Stephen Spielberg's Empire of the Sun, about the experiences of a young, British boy in Japanese occupied China in World War Two. Christian Bale was thirteen at the time.
Christian Bale also appeared as Laurie in the 1994 version of Little Women, which starred Winona Ryder and Susan Sarandon. In 2000 Christian Bale appeared in American Psycho, as Patrick Bateman, the serial killing 1980s era stockbroker. In 2001 Christian Bale appeared as a Greek resistance fighter in Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Other films in which Christian Bale has appeared include Reign of Fire, the New World (as John Rolfe) and 3:10 from Yuma.
Christian Bale's biggest role was that of Batman in 2005's Batman Begins, a role which he has reprised in the smash hit film The Dark Knight, also starring the late Heath Ledger, Michael Cain, Gary Oldman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and Arran Eckhart.
The assault charge filed against Christian Bale by his mother and sister is the first incident of this nature that the thirty four year old Welsh born film star has experienced. But the arrest is the latest in a long line of Hollywood actors caught behaving badly, which includes the recent arrest of two stars in the upcoming Oliver Stone film W in connection to a barroom brawl.
Christian Bale is slated to appear as John Conner in the upcoming film, Terminator Salvation, as well as Melvin Purvis, the famous FBI agent from the 1930s, in the film Public Enemies.
