Actor Heath Ledger Found Dead

Actor Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday, January 22, in his New York City apartment.

Ledger was allegedly found naked, face down in bed surrounded by prescription medications. So far it does not seem to be a criminal case.

A masseuse was scheduled to give Ledger a massage this afternoon and was let inside by a housekeeper. When Ledger did not respond to her knocks on his bedroom door, the woman and the housekeeper entered to find him passed out. They contacted 911, who arrived and pronounced Ledger dead after life saving attempts.

At 28, Ledger is survived by his young daughter of two and ex-wife Michelle Williams.

Ledger is best known for his role in the controversial Brokeback Mountain, but can been seen in such other films as The Patriot, A Knight's Tale, and 10 Things I Hate About You. Ledger was a promising young actor and had just finished filming a new Batman film, The Dark Knight, in which he plays the Joker.

The internet is in a roar over the death of the actor, and the street outside his apartment is full of fans and sympathizers.
