Actor John Forsythe Dies at 92

Actor John Forsythe, 92, has died. Forsythe, who had been battling cancer for the past year died of complications with pneumonia on Thursday, April 1, 2010.

Forsythe played in many movies and television shows, but was best known for his role of Blake Carrington in Dynasty and the voice of Charlie, the leader of Charlie's Angels.

Forsythe made his acting debut on the stage and continued his career on Broadway after serving in World War II. It wasn't until the 1950's that Forsythe decided to move to Hollywood and pursue a career in movies. He landed several starring roles in movies such as "The Captive City," "The Glass Web," "Escape from Fort Bravo," and "The Trouble With Harry".

Forsythe was also busy with several television shows in the 50's. He played the part of an attorney who took care of his niece on "Bachelor Father," a sitcom that ran from 1957 to 1962.

Forsythe later starred in several other movies such as "Madame X," "Topaz," "And Justice For All," and "In Cold Blood" to name a few.

John Forsythe was born John Lincoln Freund on January 29, 1918. He later changed his name when he decided to go into acting because he was tired of his name being mispronounced.

Forsythe attended University of North Carolina on an athletic scholarship.

Forsythe was very interested in politics, sports and the environment during his lifetime. He enjoyed playing in charity tennis tournaments when asked.

The funeral service for John Forsythe will be private. The family is asking that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.

    A wonderful tribute to a fine actor. I liked his work immensely. Sad that he had cancer, but 92 is a big age. May John rest in peace.
