Actor Leonardo DiCaprio: This is Our Moment
Leonardo DiCaprio Asks for Your Support in New Web-based Campaign
In a Public Service Announcement made by Natural Resources Defense Council, DiCaprio says, "This is our moment - our moment to fight for a cleaner and more secure future. The time is now for people across the country to stand up and have their voices heard. We all must call on the senate to act on this historic opportunity."
DiCaprio has been a longtime environmental champion and narrates 11th Hour - a documentary available on DVD - about how people are impacting our planet, as well as Global Warning and Water Planet. Both are available for viewing on his website.
NRDC launched their star-studded, web-based video campaign the day after President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address to urge Congress to pass the first-ever climate and clean energy bill.
"Americans want real action to address climate change and move our country toward a clean energy future," said NRDC Action Fund President Frances Beinecke. "This is one of the most important pieces of legislation of our time - we cannot let our moment pass us by. Our Senators need to hear all of us loud and clear."
What Citizens Can Do:
Citizens are encouraged to speak to their representatives in one of two ways: Make a video expressing support for the Clean Energy Jobs & American Power Act and upload it to the NRDC website or send a direct email to your Senator asking them to pass the Clean Energy Jobs & American Power Act.
The clean energy and climate legislation passed the House in June 2009. The NRDC press release states, "The legislation, the Clean Energy, Jobs and American Power Act, is now pending in the Senate."
Currently, GOP Senators Lindsay Graham, Joe Lieberman, John Kerry, Barbara Boxer, and Harry Reid support the bill that is scheduled to be on the floor next spring.

Post a CommentLeonardo is one of the best actors in Hollywood. I'm not into babyfaced men, but he pulls me into the theater everytime because of his acting skills. Good to know he's doing something positive in his spare time too. Keep up the good work.
