Actor Leslie Nielsen Dead at 84

Leslie Nielsen, the Canadian born actor and comedian, is dead. Leslie Nielsen died November 28, 2010. Leslie Nielsen passed away after suffering complications from pneumonia. He was 84 years old.

Leslie Nielsen was born February 11, 1926 in Regina, Saskatchewan. His father was an officer in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Leslie Nielsen was one of three children, all of which were boys. As soon as Leslie Nielsen graduated from high school, he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. From there, he made his way to radio where he was a disc jockey at a Calgary radio station.

Leslie Nielsen went on to study at a school in Toronto which was operated by Lorne Green. From Leslie Nielsen's beginnings in radio, he found himself in New York where he enjoyed a career in live television.

Leslie Nielsen had over 50 movie credits and numerous television credits during his long career. Perhaps he was best known for his role as the clueless doctor on "Airplane" or the "Naked Gun" movie trilogy where his talent as a straight-faced comedian shone. Leslie Nielsen also played President Harris in the "Scary Movie 3" and "Scary Movie 4" and his career spans more than six decades.

He starred in several short-lived television series and was a guest on countless television shows such as "The Streets of San Francisco," "S.W.A.T," and "Hawaii Five-O."

Leslie Nielsen was married four times and has two daughters, Thea and Maura. Leslie's fourth wife, and his daughters, were in movies starring Leslie Nielsen including "Dracula: Dead and Loving it" and "Wrongfully Accused."

Leslie Nielsen had entered a hospital in Florida 12 days ago and passed away with his family beside him. Perhaps his personal quote most sums up his wonderful outlook on life, "Doing nothing is very hard to do...you never know when you're finished."
