A Fan of Racing, Wahlberg Promotes Izod IndyCar Races, Sports Water

As excitement gears up for the 2010 Indianapolis 500, fans are getting their tickets and finalizing special race party plans. The race itself takes place May 30, 2010, part of the Izod IndyCar series. This year, actor Mark Wahlberg is teaming up with Izod and AquaHydrate, according to a recent press release, for a series of special events, all connected to Izod IndyCar racing.

Since the Indianapolis 500 is a part of the IndyCar racing series, will Wahlberg appear at this year's Indy 500 race? He has already participated in other IndyCar events where Indianapolis 500 cars were showcased. One goal in bringing Wahlberg and Izod along for the ride is to show that IndyCar racing has appeal to a younger generation.

Mark Wahlberg, Sean "Diddy" Combs at Izod IndyCar Event Featuring Indianapolis 500 Vintage Cars

Wahlberg took part in a "Race to the Party" promotion on Hollywood Boulevard which featured an exhibition of vintage cars from the Indianapolis 500. Sean "Diddy" Combs was also there. The 2010 Indianapolis 500 race is an Izod IndyCar race, since Izod is sponsoring the Indycar Series this year. Wahlberg has also participated in autograph sessions with race car drivers Danica Patrick and Helio Castroneves. One goal is to attract the interest of both new and younger race car fans to IndyCar racing as well as to bring attention to Aquahydrate sports water and Izod. If he shows up in Indianapolis, excited fans will be clamoring to get a glimpse of the popular actor.

Could Wahlberg Eventually be a Race Car Driver at the Indianapolis 500?

He is clearly a fan of high speed racing, having said that he hoped to drive a race car sometime soon. According to the latest news release, he noted that watching races was fun and that he was "officially hooked on the sport." What better upcoming Indycar series event than the Indianapolis 500 to fuel his obsession? With Wahlberg there, the excitement should ramp up just that much more, especially since catching a glimpse of celebs at the Indy 500 is as much a tradition as watching the race and wearing the traditional black and white clothing tied to the event.

Mark Wahlberg is a Natural Fit to Promote Aquahydrate Water, Izod and IndyCar Racing

Race car drivers often get dehydrated while racing, especially if the day is blistering hot already. When the sun hits a race track, temperatures soar and drivers are far from cool in their special suits. Aquahydrate water ties in with IndyCar racing, as the sports drink is designed to provide important minerals as well as water to IndyCar drivers as quickly as possible. If the brand seems a natural fit for the race, Wahlberg is an equally natural fit for promoting Aquahydrate water, Izod and IndyCar racing, especially with his love for the sport. Other celebrities, including the late Paul Newman, have enjoyed the thrill of racing cars around race tracks. Wahlberg seems interested in following in the footsteps of Newman and other celeb race car drivers. If attending the 2010 Indianapolis 500, keep your eyes peeled for a possible glimpse of Wahlberg among the other celebs who may show up.

Paul Newman visited the races in NH and was a racer at different events at certain races, not sure where but why not Mark? He is a terrific actor and will bring in the crowds...a good report here.
