Bill Nighy: (Rufus Scrimgeour) Charming, eccentric Bill Nighy seems to have no pretensions about himself as an actor. Bill Nighy turns his hand to drama and silliness, comedy and seriousness with a practiced ease. American audiences will remember Bill Nighy as the be-barnacled Captain Davy Jones in Pirates of the Caribbean, Gen. Olbricht in Valkyrie and the suave Alan Blunt in Stormbreaker. Bill Nighy played the oily Colonel Osborne in Anthony Trollope's He Knew He Was Right. Bill Nighy played Slartibartfast in the fun sci-fi Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Bill Nighy does voice overs for G-Force, Astro Boy and Flushed Away also.
Ciaran Hinds: (Alberforth Dumbledore) This Irish actor has a string of movies to his credit but many of his roles are supporting actors. Phantom of the Opera (2004), Calendar Girls, Road to Perdition, Race to Witch Mountain, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Persuasion and the wonderful early 1980s Excaliber
David O'Hara; (Albert Runcorn) Remember the boisterous Irishman Stephen from Braveheart? The guy who actually takes on the bumptious Mel Gibson as William Wallace? That was David O'Hara! David O'Hara has done Tristan and Isolde, and Bill Sikes opposite Richard Dreyfuss's Fagin in Oliver Twist. I much prefer his role as Stephen.
Rhys Ifans: (Xenophilious Lovegood) Could a name be more Welsh? Rhys Ifans will join not only the Harry Potter cast, but the second Nanny MacPhee as well. Ifans has played along side Adam Sandler in Little Nicky, Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth, Julia Roberts in Notting Hill and Reese Witherspoon in Vanity Fair.
Jamie Campbell Brower: (Gellert Grindelwald) Cast in the second Twilight movie New Moon as Caius, one of the ancient Volturi and Anthony in Sweeney Todd opposite Harry Potter's nemesis Severus Snape, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham-Carter (Beletrix LeStrange) and Timothy Spall (Peter Pettigrew). Jamie Campbell Brower's is definitely a star in ascendancy. Keep your eye out for this amazing young actor.
My only regret is that David Yates couldn't have found a spot for another of my favorite actors, Geoffrey Rush. Alas, we still have had a wonderful ten years with Harry Potter, haven't we?

Wow, you know the actors(resses) inside and out, don't you, Mar?! I don't even like the HP series, but your detailed accounts on those who play the parts is fascinating, to say the least. You make me interested in watching the movies. Good job, Mar.
I should catch up on my Harry Potter. It has been a while since I watched the movies. I think there may even be one or two that I haven't seen. Great Article!
