In the 1980's Eddie Murphy released an album called, How Could It Be. The first single is the famous "Party All the Time," which was produced by Rick James. Even with Eddie's SNL fame and Rick James' "Super Freak" fame, it was difficult for people to take Murphy serious, plus his singing wasn't the best. Clearly singing is Murphy's favorite hobby because he tried again in the 1990's this time pairing up with the King of Pop, Michael Jackson for a song called "Whatzupwitu" from the album Love's Alright. Unlike Jackson's video for "Remember the Time" which featured Murphy the video for "Whatzupwitu" featuring Jackson came off weird. The only place Murphy's singing seems to do well is in his movies, especially as James "Thunder" Early in Dream Girls.
Die Hard actor Bruce Willis was touched with the singing bug in the late 80's, recording an album called: The return of Bruno, each song was a cover except for the song "Jackpot (Bruno's bop)." The lead single "Respect Yourself" did well peaking at number five on the Billboard 100 singles chart, but other songs didn't do as well. Even with the slight success, other recordings flopped. Good has come from this actor turn singer, Bruce Willis and his band the Accelerators visited Iraq in 2003 singing to the troops in a USO Tour.
Danny Bonaduce was a child actor who continued fame showing the world his wild ride as an adult also tried singing during his role as Danny Partridge. No one can get too upset at Bonaduce for his fail attempts at singing (he admitted most of the vocals weren't even of him singing) because it was common for stars of a hit TV show, especially child stars, to put out albums.
Original 90210 star Brian Austin Green dabbled in rapping. He released an album in 1996 called: One Stop Carnival. Unfortunately the popularity of the show didn't translate to album sakes or popularity. This hip hop rap attempt didn't hurt Green too much considering he had in on again off again relationship with Megan Fox who is considered one of the hottest women in the world (but still a bad actress, but that is another story.)
Other actors and actresses who have also tried singing:
Jada Pinkett
Patty Duke
Tony Danza
Robert Downy Jr.
Terrence Howard
Alyssa Milano
Maureen McCormick
The list goes on....
