Actress Natasha Richardson Dead at 45

According to late breaking news from CNN, actress Natasha Richardson has died. Richardson was the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave and the late Tony Richardson, a film director. She is survived by her husband, Liam Neeson, to whom she married in 1994. The couple had two children, Michael and Daniel.

Richardson died from injuries in a skiing accident that occurred on Monday, March 16, 2009 at a ski resort in Quebec, Canada. Richardson suffered from a fall on a beginner's slope under the direction of an instructor. She didn't appear to be injured after the fall and the instructor advised that she return to the lodge and be checked out by a physician. She later developed a horrible headache and was then rushed to a local hospital. She was later transferred to a hospital in Montreal, Canada and a final transfer to Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, NY.

Richardson was born into a very talented family. She obviously inherited the genes passed down from her very talented mother and grandfather, who was a well known British actor. She also has aunts and uncles who are also performers.

Richardson most recently filmed "Wild Child" in 2008 and the re-make of "The Parent Trap" in 1998. She was also a well known stage performer that received rave reviews for her performance in "A Streetcar Named Desire". Richardson was scheduled to return to the state and star in "A Little Night Music" later this year.

May you rest in peace, Natasha.

I love Natasha and her mother Vanessa Redgrave, sister Joely and husband Liam. Her sister (Joely) was in one of my favorite movies Shining Through with Melanie Griffith and Michael Douglas. My heart goes out to her family. The accident was just so unexpected! Thanks for the article and care!

We did too, plus several other movies she was in. So sad.

Sad news but very well done. We loved Parent Trap.

The shock is increased by the cause being a fall on a beginner's slope, unlike Sonny Bono's.

I am sooooooo sad about this. I loved Liam and Natasha as a couple. Both very talented people. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

I was looking to see if anyone had written about this here at AC yet - good job, Karen. You never know how quickly life can end. I feel sorry for Mr. Neeson and the entire family. I don't think they have yet found all the reasons behind the headache. She received a Tony Award for the revival of Cabaret. A beautiful, vivacious lady. I really enjoyed her secondary role as Ralph Fienne's hysterically over-the-top suitor in Maid in Manhattan.

This latest news was indeed shocking! This poor family, I can't imagine what they are going through.

I had responded to your first story about Natasha Richardson, and now to hear she's dead is really sad, though if they had taken her off life support it meant she was already gone...such a tragedy for the family...Actor Liam Neeson and their two children
