Don't Believe Everything You Hear About Acupuncture

Charlotte Raynor
There are numerous falsehoods regarding acupuncture. Some of them are accurate; others are ridiculous, while the rest of them are simply half truths. In this article, you will be educated on what information is believable.

The number one falsehood is that acupuncture hurts terribly. This is false for the reason that individuals that have had acupuncture admitted they only felt a small prick whereas other people said they felt nothing at all. It is very uncommon for there to be bruising and there is no tissue damage when the needle is put into the skin nor when pulled out.

The fact that you can get AIDS or hepatitis from acupuncture is the second falsehood. This can only occur if the needles used in the acupuncture are not sterile. This will never occur in the United States for the simple reason that acupuncturists are mandated to utilize disposable needles so you are not in any danger of getting these two illnesses.

The third falsehood is that acupuncture is utilized to deal with pain. This is only have true since this alternative type of medicine has been shown to treat other things such as lose weight, to put a halt to addiction, and to avoid some diseases.

Some people believe that Asians are the only ones capable of practicing acupuncture and this is the fourth falsehood. Anyone can study to become an acupuncturist. There are numerous schools nationally that teach individuals about acupuncture and how to practice acupuncture. There are over 3,000 acupuncturists practicing in the United States.

The fifth falsehood is the fact that medical doctors do not have faith in the potentiality of alternative medicine such as acupuncture. This is false since there are more physicians nowadays that are agreeable to the belief that there are alternative ways to assist patients apart from regular medicine. Actually some physicians even suggest an acupuncturist if they come to believe that they can no longer help a patient.

Another falsehood is that all patients go through the four needle procedure. This is false and would only be utilized as a last resort when the acupuncturist believes that the energy of the patient is specifically not moving.

The seventh falsehood is that having a medical physician carry out the acupuncture is the way to go. This is not true since the schooling for acupuncture is very different than what is taught in medical school. Before being permitted to practice acupuncture, a student has to train for 3,000 hours. So if you are trying to decide whether to go to a medical doctor or an acupuncturist, you need to see an acupuncturist who has studied this procedure deeper.

The eighth falsehood is that acupuncture is only practiced in Asia, Africa and Latin America. This is false since acupuncture started in China more than 2,000 years ago. This technique has extended to modernized countries in Asia, for instance South Korea, Malaysia, Japan and Singapore.

Acupuncture has been used in the United States for in excess of two decades and is legal in thirty states. As a matter of fact, 30 states license acupuncturists after they graduate as soon as they pass the state board test.

There is still a demand for this type of holistic healthcare even though acupuncture has been around for quite awhile. This is the reason it is utilized these days and it is being taught in many colleges. Acupuncture doesn't hurt and is cost proficient. A lot of reports have shown that it is successful in handling many sicknesses and avoiding some of them.
