Honolulu, Hawaii- More than 40,000 attendees, guests and families from 50 States and around the globe joined the American Dental Association (ADA) as it celebrates their 150th Anniversary in the State of Aloha.

The annual meeting started early this week September 30 and ends tomorrow, October 4th.

Held at the highly state-of-the-art Hawaii Convention Center, which enabled ADA's distinguished members, exhibitors, families, guests and friends to experience the finest convention facilities with the perfect blend of beauty, comfort and culture that is uniquely Hawai'i.

State Governor Linda Lingle along with Lieutenant Governor Duke Iona earlier welcomed the association and acknowledged their contributions to the society; stressing its overall impact to the health of their patients and likewise congratulated ADA for being one of the world's oldest and largest association with more than 152,000 members and still growing.

To name some of the highlights of the meeting are:
- LOC, a live operation center, where dentists were actually performing on live camera; to educate members on what's current in various dental procedures;
- Wide array of classes for their continuing education;
- Free health screening that was held at the Ala Moana Hotel for members and families;
- Evening Under the Stars, a Gala show last night at Waikiki Shell; for everyone to experience aloha; and of course the awesome privilege of hearing and witnessing their 2009 Guest Speaker, Academy-award winner, actor, writer, director, diplomat Sidney Poiter, who serves as the Bahamas ambassador to Japan and UNESCO.

The convention believed to have generated an approximate gross income of $4.M, which came handy to Hawaii. It provided temporary jobs for hundreds of locals; easing state's worsening unemployment condition and short fall on budget.

Meanwhile, the 2010 ADA convention will be held next at Orlando, Florida. Tickets for two were given away for their Sweepstakes Drawing, a $5,000 shopping spree and $1,000 every hour.
