Adam Carolla Radio Show Canceled; Last Show Airs Friday

Adam Carolla's popular morning radio show, Adam Carolla with Teresa Strasser, has been canceled. According to media outlets, the final Adam Carolla talk show will be broadcast on Friday. The popular radio show has been running on 97.1 FM (Southern California's FM Talk Station) for three years. Firing of Adam Carolla as a radio show host comes from economic woes, and the KLSX radio station owned by CBS struggling in the current recession.

Cancellation news of The Adam Carolla Show came as a surprise to the fans and followers, as no indication was given that show cancellation could be possible. The show contributors and Adam Carolla explained that the news came to them late last night, but they were not allowed to say anything until today. The online rumors however came out faster than the official word.

Adam Carolla has been a popular comedian and a talk show host of my generation. I remember the days of MTV's Loveline with Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew. Even though Carolla has had some movie exposure, his fame came from comedy shows such as The Man Show and Crank Yankers. He played the sidekick to Dr. Drew on the Loveline from 1995-2005. Carolla's outrageous comments and antics on The Loveline put him on the map. While Dr. Drew always tried to be a serious, medical professional, Carolla played the opposite and sometimes made outrageous comments to callers.

Even though I live on the East Coast, I have had the chance to listen to The Adam Carolla's Morning Show online. Adam Carolla's morning show is broadcast live on the adam.freefm.com website. The time difference made it convenient for me to catch a laugh and hear Carolla's opinion on the latest news. Additionally, Carolla and companions were on my Twitter account. One of their updates after the cancellation news came is that the radio station chose Britney Spears and The Jonas brothers over the Adam Carolla radio show.

Listening to Adam Carolla and Theresa Strasser this morning, I noticed that they were understanding of the CBS decision to cancel the radio show. They did clearly explain that it was not their fault, and that this is an economic and budget decision. The radio hosts joked that the radio station listeners wanted to hear more of Britney Spears. Then Teresa Strasser sang the chorus to Britney Spears' "Womanizer" song. Carolla and companions also joked about their unemployment this morning. They were asking questions in regards to the application process for unemployment, as well as how much it pays. Carolla made a comment that they will all be standing in line Monday morning, along with everyone else losing their jobs in the current economy.

I will be sad to see The Adam Carolla Show off the air waves. Adam Carolla is a talented comedian who will be missed by his fans. Some of his antics can be considered crude, and his radio show discussions are not always PG rated. However, it is important to note that Adam Carolla's show is not being canceled due to any wrongdoing on the host's behalf. It is only a decision based on the radio station's budget situation, and not as a result of Carolla's behavior.

Actually, the show was pretty damn funny. The show's cancellation came as s shock to me. Thank you for writing this review, very helpful and informative. I'm bummed I can't listen to show on my way to work anymore :( I DEFINATELY DO NOT want Brittany and those little Jonas turds polluting MY ears. Thanks again.

The show was canceled because it was not funny period. If that is not the case I'm sure he will be on another station

This is the best thing that has ever happened to Adam Carolla. He continues to get paid for the rest of the contract (18 months) but can sleep in and not do anything all day if he wants to. But for those that want to continue to hear him he will be doing a podcast on his website.

so much for diversity... is there any diversity of the minds left? who cares about religion, color, race, or sex orientation? that's for the whiners. why don't we celebrate diversity of our minds. instead, now we can access more gutter music.

Re. Nina's response to Veronica: The show was canceled... so they could change formats. Let's be fair to Veronica, that is a pretty important part of the picture.

I really hate to hear that, one of the producers Angie Fitzsimmons is just awesome. One of the nicest people in radio. I knew her from the Ace and TJ show and met her at remotes and exchanged a few emails with her.

Adam will be okay. He'll become Stern's next sidekick once Artie Lange dies.
