Adam Dunn Trade Rumors Include White Sox and Tigers

Adam Dunn trade rumors could become quite intensive in Washington soon. These Adam Dunn trade rumors include the White Sox and Tigers as possible suitors, with several other teams also interested in the services of Dunn. Dunn has been a big attraction for the Washington Nationals, and by many accounts is still considered the most popular positional player on the team. Jayson Stark of ESPN has been noting that there is a lot of trade talk about Dunn right now though.

Adam Dunn is making $12 million to play for the Washington Nationals this season, and will again be a free agent at the end of the 2010 campaign. So far this season, he is batting .281 with 23 home runs, 63 RBI, and a nice on base percentage of .369. He is definitely one of the best power hitters in baseball right now, and would be an instant influx of offense to any team he got traded. His walks are down a bit this year, but he has also raised his average, and possibly his "stock" as a sought-after-player for the remainder of the 2010 baseball season.

There are several teams out there that need offense to help them make a push for the 2010 MLB Playoffs, with the Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angels, and New York Mets all on that list. The most recent Dunn trade rumors include interest from the Tigers as well as the possibility of a three-team trade that would send Dunn to the White Sox and pitcher Edwin Jackson back to Washington in the deal. Jackson pitches for the Arizona Diamondbacks, meaning that they would be the third team. It would also get the Nationals a possible pitcher for the starting rotation in 2011.

The Washington Nationals have now fallen to 15 1/2 games out of first place in the National League East, and are obviously back in re-build mode for another run next year. It had looked like the Nationals were going to make a run at the National League Wild Card sport, but that didn't turn out to be the case after several long losing streaks. The Nationals also don't have to trade Dunn, because he will most likely be a Type-A free agent and net them two draft picks in the 2011 MLB Draft. There is also the possibility that they could re-sign him for a long term deal, but that might get expensive.

The 2010 MLB trade deadline is on July 31, so time is running out for action to be taken on this issue. Will the Adam Dunn trade rumors prove to be true? Or will Washington keep the fan favorite and give him a lucrative long term deal?
