Adam Lambert Admits Crush for Kris Allen in Rolling Stone
But He Thinks Screaming Girls Are "Hot," Too
After the auditions and Adam Lambert was named to the Top 12 (13), he sublet his Hollywood studio apartment and moved in with his fellow finalists in the American Idol mansion. Lambert told Rolling Stone that when he first heard he was roommates with Kris Allen, he thought, "I was like, 'Oh, sh--, they put me with the cute guy."
But that was as far as it went. The relationship remained platonic. But: "Distracting! He's the one guy I found attractive in the whole group on the show: nice, nonchalant, pretty and totally my type - except that he has a wife. I mean, he's open-minded and liberal, but he's definitely 100 percent straight."
Speculation as to Adam Lambert's sexual orientation became the stuff of rumor and gossip soon after the American Idol Season 8 began airing. By the time he was named to the Top 13, pictures of his flamboyant stage performances and of him kissing another guy were viral on the internet, but Lambert kept silence throughout.
But it became pretty obvious when at a pre-finale party, Adam brought along his partner, the guy who just happened to be in the circulating pictures.
And then he lost. Some have even posited that the reason that Kris Allen won American Idol was due to Adam Lambert's lifestyle. When asked by Rolling Stone if his being gay may have cost him the title, Lambert laughed and said, "Probably."
But he doesn't let second place bother him. As he told the magazine, just making it to the finals made him feel like a winner.
Being gay, Rolling Stone asked how he felt about all the attention he got from the girls. "I loved it this season when girls went crazy for me." He said that he had experimented with girls in high school. "As far as I'm concerned, it's all hot."
And it is, or at least Adam Lambert is -- hot, that is. From American Idol runner-up, rocking with KISS and Queen at the finale, being asked to stand in with Queen at a few shows, having over a dozen songs on iTunes at once, signing a record deal, and landing on the cover of Rolling Stone, Adam Lambert is one hot and up-and-coming artist.
But the question that everyone is now asking is: Did Kris Allen know about the crush?

That's not what was asked of him. Adam was asked if his perceived sexual orientation may have *affected the voting* and that's what he said "Probably." too. There is a pointed difference between him admitting it affected the voting and costing him the title.
