Adam Lambert at AMAs: The Controversy Pot is Stirred Again by Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert is all the talk today as people are heatedly debating last night's Adam Lambert American Music Awards (AMA) performance. Even though ABC made it a point to announce over and over again that the Adam Lambert performance would be outrageous, many people still stuck around until the very end of the AMA award show to see Adam Lambert perform.

And what a surprise, Adam Lambert was shocking! The Adam Lambert AMA performance was racy. The Adam Lambert AMA performance was edgy. The Adam Lambert AMA performance was outrageous and sexy. It was exactly what Adam Lambert and ABC said it was going to be.

The Adam Lambert AMA performance included Adam Lambert pulling two male dancers on leashes, an enactment of fellatio, and a deep kiss with his male keyboard player. There was a lot of crotch-grabbing, hips sensually gyrating, suggestive dancing, some tongue squirming and fireworks. This Adam Lambert AMA performance was an over-the-top, outrageous performance - just what it was supposed to be.

So what is the problem today? The problem seems to be that Adam Lambert is a man. And Adam Lambert had the nerve to get up on stage at the AMAs and do what female performers have been doing since Madonna rolled around on the AMA stage in a wedding dress proclaiming to be a virgin many years ago.

Adam Lambert had the nerve to proclaim his sexuality and to perform acts on stage that reflect that sexuality and now Adam Lambert is surrounded in controversy for it to the point that some of the Adam Lambert AMA performance was edited out for the west coast airing. We've all seen the infamous and widely publicized Madonna and Britney kiss. And just last night at the AMAs Lady GaGa wore a flesh-colored body stocking, set a piano on fire, had her violinist's wear gas masks and she broke liquor bottles over the piano.

As a commenter named SKE stated on an US Magazine article, "I agree it's a double standard; why was Britney and Madonna's kiss not edited out? Instead it was glorified and pushed in all our faces over and over again, and still is; like it was the greatest, sexiest moment in history. Yet Adam's is edited out. Unfair and close-minded."

As for Adam Lambert himself, what does he have to say about his performance at the AMAs last night? Adam Lambert said to Access Hollywood, "If I offended some people . . . I'm not an artist that does things for every single person. I wish people would open their minds and enjoy things. It's all for a laugh. It's really not that big of a deal."

Just for the record, I thought the Adam Lambert AMA performance was great. It was Adam Lambert's first time at the AMAs and expectations were extremely high. Adam did a wonderful job in a highly stressful situation and he stayed true to himself.
