Adam Lambert Be as Gay or Non-Gay as You Want to Be

Out Magazine Editor Tries to Paint Lambert as Gay Civil Rights Leader

Adam Lambert I have a small piece of advice for you: Be as gay or non-gay as you want to be. The latest Adam Lambert news revolves around Out magazine editor Aaron Hicklin attempting, in an open letter in this month's Out magazine, to paint Adam Lambert as some sort of gay civil rights representative. My advice in the situation is for Adam Lambert to be as gay or non-gay as Adam Lambert wants to be. But it is only Adam Lambert's decision, no one else's.

Adam Lambert was named in the list of Out magazine's 100 influential gay and lesbian icons and he appears on the cover of Out magazine this month in a group shot. But there is supposed controversy surrounding the way that Adam's management team wanted to avoid making Adam Lambert look "too gay" in the photograph.

Aaron Hicklin said in his letter that he was proud of Adam Lambert and what he has accomplished, and he was proud to have Adam in the list of Out magazine's 100 influential gay and lesbian icons. But Aaron went on to say that "he was disheartened by Lambert's decision to do a photo shoot with Details magazine that had him groping a naked woman." The letter continued with, "...and we're all counting on you not to mess this up."

Mess this up? Did he really say to Adam Lambert, don't mess this up? And what exactly is 'this'?

First and foremost, Adam Lambert is an incredibly talented musician with an amazing career in front of him. He is not a gay civil rights leader and he has never tried to be anything but that.

As Adam Lambert said himself, "My whole point is, I'm not trying to lead the f--king way for the civil rights movement that we're in right now. I just happen to be a gay man -- and I'm not ashamed of that at all." Great Adam, and we are not ashamed of that either!

After news of the Hinklin letter hit, Adam Lambert tweeted to Aaron: "Dear Aaron, it's def not that deep. Chill! Guess ya gotta get attention for the magazine," Adam Lambert continued. "U too are at the mercy of the marketing machine. ... Until we have a meaningful conversation, perhaps you should refrain from projecting your publication's agenda onto my career."

That's right Adam, set your boundaries and make others recognize them and respect them.

Adam Lambert, the American Idol runner-up, has always been very respectful about his sexual orientation. He waited until the end of American Idol to openly come out and say that he was proud of being gay. Adam said, "I wanted the focus to be my voice and my entertainment, not my (sexual) preference."

Adam we all feel exactly the same way. Gay or non-gay, you are incredibly talented and it should be all about the music and the entertainment and not about anything else.

Adam Lamberts new album "For Your Entertainment" will be released November 23rd.
