Adam Lambert Back in His Comfort Zone on May 5 American Idol

Lambert Puts a GlamRock Look on a Zeppelin Classic

Gerald McConway
This is the week that Adam Lambert fans were waiting for and they were not disappointed. Adam Lambert hit the stage with a GlamRock look and belted out a classic that the others simply could not match. This was a perfect song choice as it allowed him to show off his rock talent and vocals that none of the other contestants have the capability of.

Time and again, Adam has taken the advice that has been directed at him from the mentors and I was glad to see that he did it again. Axe told him something that I have been saying from day one about not going after the high notes so much. I am sure that the hate mail will flood in once again, but I just don't think that he has that upper range and it comes off as screaming. He stayed within his range, which is still quite wide, and he absolutely nailed the song.

There is little doubt that Adam is going to be able to pursue a career as a rock star after this competition is over. The only question is whether or not he is going to be flying solo or if a band will be built around him. Regardless, he is going to be packing them in for quite some time.

Adam is easily in the safe seat for the elimination show and is probably the only one that can rest easy. If I had to guess who the other safe singer was it would probably be Allison. This was right up here alley and I disagree with the judges in that I thought it was a pretty good outing for her. Danny and Kris were way out of their element in this genre and it showed. One of them will be gone after Wednesday Night.

Not to disappoint you, but Godsmack is usually playing in the background.

We all heard what a scream really sounds like (see Danny Gokey), but hey, Gerald, instead of coming off as ignorant, why don't you just preface your article by admitting that you're not a dude into any kind of hard rock?

I will be the first to admit that Adam has the best range on the show, but even he goes a little overboard at times. I was glad to see him reign it in a little bit and stay within what he can do and glad to see that someone finally brought it up for him. I took a lot of heat about saying he screams sometimes, but the honest truth is that he does. It is not an insult to him, but everyone has their limitations. He gave a controlled performance last night and hit the nail on the head. He was far and away the best of the bunch.

Adam was AMAZING last night! Not only was he amazing he answered his critics, with the help of Gokey, and showed us the difference between screaming and singing. Everybody can now stop saying that Adam screams... If you want to know what a scream sounds like just listen to Danny killing (and I mean that in a bad murdering chalk outline kind of way) the poor innocent song Dream On. That is screaming. You know it. It was bad. Yuck. My ears were bleeding. His fans know it too. I am sorry but there is a difference between screaming and Rock N Roll. We saw that difference last night. Vote for the Worst pick Danny Gokey = screaming. Adam Lambert = Rock N Roll.
