Adam Lambert 'Behind the Music:' One Thing He Won't Talk About

"American Idol" alum Adam Lambert is the next scheduled featured artist on VH1's acclaimed series, "Behind The Music," and it promises to be a revealing hour of America's favorite young glam rocker. According to "Idolator," the show will highlight Lambert's struggle with the realization he was gay during his teen years and how going into show business opened him up to a culture of sex and drugs. But there was one topic that he told OK! Magazine that he would not discuss.

In a pre-"Behind The Music" interview, the "Whataya Want From Me?" singer opened up slightly about the one thing he wouldn't talk about on the biographical/autobiographical show -- his love life.

"I think maybe my dating life," Adam said, when asked if there was a subject not touched upon. "I've tried to keep that somewhat sacred, as far as that privacy. It's the one thing I have, you know? I think that's not uncommon. A lot of people try to keep that private, but the good news is that I am in love, so that's a good place to be. It's a great time to be making music, I'll tell you."

Lambert was launched into stardom via the Fox hit reality contest series "American Idol," quickly developing a fan base of diehard Glamberts and energizing the "Idol" stage like it had never seen (before or since). He fell one short of winning Season 8, however, pulling a second-place finish to dark horse contender Kris Allen (who will also make an appearance on the "Behind The Music" episode). Since the show, he has been the center of rumor and controversy, released a gold album, a live EP, and a CD-DVD set of his "Glam Nation Tour." He has also been nominated for numerous awards, including a Grammy for "Whataya Want From Me?", and won both a Teen Choice Award (2009) and Flecking Records' 2010 Entertainer of the Year award.

He told OK! that he was a little surprised that his sexuality remains such a hot topic but he believes he is beginning to understand it -- " it's just something that people find interesting." He says he doesn't actively think about being gay, having gone through struggles with his identity as a teen, "right before I came out. That was a very hard time to deal with that."And it's funny how much people sensationalize it, especially in the media. But that's entertainment."

"Behind The Music: Adam Lambert" makes its world premiere on VH1 at 10 p.m. EDT today.
