Even while roaming South Beach in clothes designed to hide his identity, Adam Lambert couldn't fight off the watchful eye of one paparazzi over the weekend. The photographer claims the former American Idol singer assaulted him in a vicious attack while taking pictures of Lambert. He has since filed an assault and battery report with the Miami Beach Police.

Lambert, who has never been one to shy away from being honest with his fans and the public, immediately used his Twitter account to tell the world the incident did happen before other media outlets had a chance to publish it. Adam tweeted, "I lost my temper for a sec but wow it felt great lol MIAMI!!!" and "Eeew paparazzi killed my peaceful afternoon on the beach!" and "They're real good at provoking, but there ain't any pics or video of the b.s. they spew out... Haha well... I (cont) Hahha the photos are hilarious !! Lol please everyone forgive me for that hat. - I was attempting a disguise- clearly failed. Hahah."

The incident started after Lambert and a friend were spotted by the photographer walking along South Beach in Miami Saturday. The photographer began taking pictures and shouting questions at Lambert when, according to the police report, the singer immediately charged after the photographer and jumped on him, wrestling him to the ground and attempting to grab a camera out of the mans hand. Another photographer captured the entire incident with his camera.

After a large crowd formed around the two the photographer wrestled Lambert off and ran away. The photographer was reportedly in Miami taking pictures on South Beach. Around 10:30PM the photographer, who is unidentified, walked into a Miami Beach police station to report the incident and file a police report. The officer who took the report noted the man did not suffer any bruises or lacerations in the incident.

While the pictures show both Lambert and the paparazzi wrestling together, many have already called into question the reaction the photographer had to the entire incident. He can be seen in the pictures laughing as Lambert tries to pull something out of a backpack the man was wearing.

The police have sent the report to the State Attorney General for review of any wrongdoing or potential charges and they will decided whether or not to prosecute.

In another Twitter post later that evening Adam Lambert tweeted in his defense of a battery charge saying, "Battery? Nope. I attempted to grab a camera, no punches were thrown and no one was on the ground ... It was literally harmless. If embarrassment is a crime - that's all I'm guilty of."

Lambert played to a sold out crowd at the Hard Rock Casino Saturday night.
