Adam Lambert's Album Goes Gold While American Idol Sees Adam Lambert "Effect" on Contestants
"For Your Entertainment" was originally released on November 23, 2009. Adam Lambert's debut album has only been available for purchase for eleven weeks. In all of the calendar yea 2009 only seven albums sold over a million copies, so it would seem that the Adam Lambert album is well on its way to official success status.
As another point of reference, Kris Allen, who actually won American Idol last season, has also recently released an album. Its sales remain far below the half million sold by Adam Lambert, Kris's album has sol just 255,000 copies at this time.
On Amazon.com, "For Your Entertainment" is the 57th highest selling album. It is also the 18th highest selling album in the Rock category, and the 56th highest selling album in the Pop category on Amazon. Meanwhile the recently released single by Adam Lambert, "Whataya Want From Me" is doing really well on it's own and is currently placed at number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs.
While his album is doing great and his career is taking off the new season of American Idol has begun and an interesting trend is being seen in the contestants. When asked about an Adam Lambert "effect" American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi said, "I think that people were interpreting songs from the get-go in audition week. They weren't just singing them the way they were sung by the people who originally recorded them. They were kind of taking some risks, and I like that. And maybe that is because of Adam (Lambert)."
So is there an Adam Lambert "effect" this year on American Idol? I think so. There are many Idol contestants this year that have put their own interpretation on the songs they are choosing to sing. America loved it last year as Adam Lambert dazzled us each week with his own unique renditions of well-known songs and the judges liked Adam and his interpretation too - at least most of the time. Maybe that is why so many American Idol contestants are including that in their auditions this far.

Stick a fork in AI.For those who talk about Kris in the same breath...silk purse, sow's ear. Can't be done. Adjust, admit and move on. Adam ROCKS! Oh...Adam was not a "plant"...but thanks for thinking it, lol.
Adam Lambert effect? That also implies they are all following Adam. Please. The notion of taking chances was introduced on Season 1, 2002, with Kelly Clarkson.
Wow, way to skew facts to make it sound better than it is. Like saying there were few Cds that sold over a million, but his only sold 1/2 million, etc etc. Or saying that it started at 3 and never dipped under 53. Well true, but it's also not saying much for 11 weeks. Don't get me wrong. His sales are fairly good, I'll admit, but this article is full of exaggerations and is far reaching. At this point Adam is doing average for a winner or runner up. Kris's CD sales performance is poor for a winner however. I think had he had at least 2 songs that were more reminiscent of the show, he would have sold a million like Susan Boyle did right off the bat. In fact that's what her CD was like. Adam on the other hand seemed to change drastically...
I think that I shall never see... a human being more pathetic than someone who follows the career of a singer they don't like. Who does that? Lambert's fans are psycho? Really? That loses some of its meaning when said by someone with nothing better to do than read and comment on articles about someone they can't stand. It would be funny if it weren't so pitiful. God almighty, please, for yourselves and all the world, get a life.
Love the cd, got a copy for full price. The albums a masterpiece. Keep buying!

I'm so happy for Adam. I'm a huge fan and have been following him since I first saw him on Idol. I am watching this year but it is really not the same without Adam. I can't wait to see him perform on Idol that will be fabulous. I cry whenever I see Adam on TV or appearing anywhere in the mainstream. I follow hims career closely but I know a lot of the radio and online interviews and appearances he does are now known by the public so they don't know just HOW MUCH he is doing on a day to day basis. He is always kind, articulate and extremely funny. Congrats to Adam Lambert! He deserves it and this is just the beginning of the road to Platinum! And to whoever said that about the CD being for .99 cents that was only for Black Friday weekend. The price was reduced to $3.99 and there was a coupon floating around to get $3.00 off. This was only for a couple of days. I had already bought 3 copies at the regular price (as had most of Adam's fans). And to the person who called Adam a "plant" on

I am so happy for Adam. He deserves this so much. His CD is a masterpiece! The only thing better is seeing him in concert. He was spectacular. You could feel the electricity building in the room when Adam was about to come on. He puts everything he has into his performances. He tries to make evry performance memorable. I just love that about him. His parents are very lucky people to have him as a son. When he came out to sign autographs after the show he was so sweet to everyone. He spent so so much time with his fans, trying to sign evrything that he could. I couldn't believe how gorgeous he was in person. He is better looking in real life than in pictures. He is movie star handsome, and I hope that that is his next project.
