As the competition heats up and the participants get to meet Season 8 American Idol Adam Lambert, Adam's influence seems to help get the best out of the contestants and most show a drastic improvement in a matter of days. Find out who gave the best performances on American Idol on April 13th.

Tim Urban is definitely one of the rising stars on this show. This week he gave another solid performance and showed a stage presence and skill way beyond his years. Urban gave a personal twist to the old Elvis classic "I can't help falling in love with you". His voice was filled with emotion and his performance sounded heartfelt and authentic. The judges raved about it. The audience loved it. To sum it up Simon Cowell said "from zero to hero in just two weeks!"

Lee DeWyze with "A little less conversation" gave another a great performance last night and his guitar was stellar. His interpretation of this old classic was contemporary and fresh and the judges loved it. Ellen DeGeneres said he exhibits more confidence as time passes and that his performances are getting better with every show. Judge Kara DiGiorno said his vocals were 'fire' and Simon Cowell said he simply nailed the song.

Siobhan Magnus was a bit disappointing with a 'sleepy' version of Suspicious Minds, yet as always her amazing vocals at the end of the song 'made her come alive'. The judges expressed mixed opinions, and as usual the one coming down the hardest was Simon Cowell, who said that it felt as Siobhan " was put in a time machine" and that she was "slowly losing herself". His negative comments nearly put tears in the young girl's eyes and I cannot agree with him as I felt that Siobhan is slowly evolving into a great singer. Maybe her song choice wasn't ideal, but the girl definitely has one of the best voices on the show and it would be a pity if she gets eliminated.

Michael Lynche's interpretation of In the Ghetto was another great performance last night. As usual his voice was one of the best on the show and the strong words of this song were an ideal match with his great stage presence. The judges agreed that they were happy they saved him and said he did a great job in choosing a terrific song and his performance was quoting Simon "a million, billion times better than last time's performance."
